Claybars are the greatest invention ever! I clayed, washed, waxed my car a couple months ago and it came out better than it did new!

Great job!

Nice job. Don't clay bar it too often though you'll eventually remove your clearcoat if you do it a lot, but it does work great. And to answer the question someone else asked about Maguirs coming in a kit, the answer is yes, they actually sell a really nice kit that comes with the 3 step process (gold class), leather treatment, tire wet, and wax appllicator in a nice wooden case. So Rick how long did it take, must have been there forever if you did your girls car too and did you do it by hand or buffer? And is the pic in this link a reflection on your car, its sharp.

Oh I thought your away message in your IM said you were washing your girlfriend's car. That stinks about the scratch, is it deep? There was probably some debris in the clay bar, you got to be careful with that and always remold the bar so that doesnt happen, not fool proof though. But if its not a deep scratch, clean up that clay bar and go over just that spot next time and it should fix it. If it is a bit deeper than what the clay bar can fix, than I have this great wax/compound made by 3M that works great for the deeper stuff without removing clearcoat. If it is one of those narly deep scratches down through the paint though, only way to fix it is color sand, which is what I am going to have done when I get stripes painted on mine to remove that dumb orange peel that Ford painted on there.

As rrobello said, you must be careful with clay bars. everything sticks to them, including small pieces of gravel and other debris. You cannot set them down on the ground or drop them, if you do the bar is ruined. You must also knead the bar frequently to mix the "dirt" from the car into the bar to keep the actual working surface clean.

As nice as the car does look (the shine is amazing) all I can think about is "wow, look at that nice weather, and shorts, and blue sky and sun and and and". I have 20 degrees and rock salt.

Something wrong with this picture.

sorry to hear about scratch...I've never used clay bar, sounds like you have to be real careful with it. Anyway, hope you can work it out.
