Water Spots

My car has some deep water spots from the previous owner. The car is dark blue and these spot really stand out. I thought a good wax and buff would take them out but that didn't help at all. Does anyone know of any way to remove these without damaging the clear coat?

The only way I can think of if they will not come out by waxing and buffing, is to wetsand it and then buff it.

try claybarring it first, I had a waterspot faux pas recently that I will get into later in my own thread, but claybarring and re washing took care of mine (older car might not be as easy..still got to do the 95 )

Have you tried a rubbing compound?

My suggestion is to try the claybar first as well. Use dawn soap to strip all current wax, then claybar the heck out of the car, making sure to keep teh surface where the claybar will be used well lubed, then wash again and re-wax/polish. May even try a cleaning wax before polishing.

+1 If this doesn't do it for you then you might try a polishing compound or cleaner wax--this would be a step between claybar and rubbing compound...don't apply this with pressure, just let the compound do the work. Work a small area at a time to see if you're making any headway. You can always advance up to a more abrasive substance but if you use too much abrasive then the damage is done. Let us know how it works for you.

water spots

I'm going to try the claybar system (Maguairs) in the morning, Gonna wash it first then give it a try. If that doesn't work, we have a guy here in town dba Paint Doctor who says he can make it look like new for about 100 bucks including repairing some dings in the door and hood.

We'll see what happens.

Thanks for your suggestions!

Water Spots

Well, the clay bar didn't touch the water spots. These must be pretty deep. I think I'm going to leave this to a professional. I don't want to do anything to damage the surface. This car has a beautiful finish that I don't want to ruin.

I'll let you know after I take it to the "Paint Doctor" here in town. He comes highly recommended. He says he can remove the spots and also repair several small paint chips for about $100. Can't afford it until next month though.
