I've noticed that I have a few (8 to 10) rather large water spots, on my hood, that will not come out with a regular washing. I've never washed the car in the sun or allowed water to dry on the car in the sun. I have no idea how they got there. I have had multiple black cars in my life and actually have never had this happen before. Any suggestions on how to remove them?

Thats a good suggestion. How long has it been since you have waxed the vehicle. If its been a while you may want to do so. From the sound of it, it seems like the water isn't beading which is one sign that it is time to wax.

Also, if you have waxed it recently and you are still getting spots you may have hard water in your area. I do here in PA and picked up the Mr. Clean Autodry system since it filters the water with the PuR water filtration system. This worked wonders for me and you can pick up the unit for about $18 dollars (no need to spring for the pro kit) at Wal-Mart or Kmart. Good luck

I thought I was getting spotting related to the sun and what not also. But we have hard water that spots anything it touches. If it's wax time the wax & buff usually gets all the spots out (if you use Meguiar's ScratchX that also removes the spots).

There are also a number of clear coat cleaners you might want to try that should remove the spotting.

I'd check for hard water first... If that is the case you may also want to try Mr. Clean's Auto Dry system as it has a filter built in.

A claybar should take care of this, look at some of the Zaino kits.

I'd say clay bar if they're bad. If you're in a hurry to get one, you can get a Mothers kit at Pepboys, Autozone, etc. for ~$15-20.
