Stupid love bugs...

Oh man, I hate love bugs. I used to live in central Florida... now I live in the washington DC area. Thank god, no more love bugs.
I remember days where there would be a bug density of about 10 bugs per cubic foot of air. And then when I parked my white volvo at a gas station, it would be 50% black spots because of all the love bugs that decided to land on it.
Arghhhh. I'm going to buy a car bra before I ever drive down to Florida in the stang.

I drove from So. FL to/from Tallahasse 3 weeks ago taking my son to FSU and there were no love bugs along FL's Turnpike, I-75 and I-10 stretches of road. Have they returned just recently?? I have to make that drive again this coming weekend and would like to be prepared. I know for a fact that they adore the Torch Red color of my wife's stang.

Sorry can't give you a Florida update (The Weather Channel really should have a Love Bug Outlook at the top of the hour) but here in TX with all the rain we've had they're about the worst i've seen for the late summer crop. Love bugs have no natural predators and their only function seems to be hanging out on the highways clogging radiators, obscuring windshields and smashing their bodies into our cars, unleashing Ridley Scott Alien-type acidic juices as a last act of defiance.
Now back to Car Care - a tip: using moistend dryer sheets i.e. Bounce will wipe the suckers right off. This will, like all remedies, however remove all polish/wax as well. I even keep a box in my mobile detail kit.

I don't have love bugs, but when I took my car out of the garage this morning, it was covered in a bunch of bugs from the night before!

That was EXACTLY what I was thinking!
No offense meant to my Florida Mustangers - but I just could not live there. Acid bugs, prehistoric carnosaurs eating your pets, cockroaches big enough to strap on as rollerskates (yes, I know you call them "palmetto bugs" but we all know what they REALLY are).
Just too "Jurassic Park" for me!

This is what I use during the love bug season. Paint it on, dries in one hour, then peel it off along with the bugs and grime. I was selling this on the Internet and at Car Shows, but it didn't seem to sell very well except when I demonstrate it at Car Shows. Oh well, I have been using it for 4 years and it works great!

Well I don't know what love bugs are and we sure don't have them in Phoenix. But my neighbor said he saw a coyote walking down our street one morning when he was getting his morning paper. Good thing my stang is always in the garage at night!
