a friend of mines, sister, backed her SUV into the back right side bumper of my 05 tonight. I was inside their house when it happened and she came running in all upset about what she had done.

Basically, there was pretty big pushed in piece of the bumper, that my friend and I pushed back out. The overrall corner of the bumper looks normal, but theres a large scuff in the paint job there, and where the bumper got pushed in, after we pushed it back out, now there is a slight crease in the bumper that extends about 18" across horizontally.

the crease isnt noticable unless you look really hard for it, but the scuffed paint looks really bad. Her family said they'd pay me in cash to get it fixed, so its not too big of a deal I guess...except for the huge inconvenience

Think I'll need a new rear bumper? if it were just the bit of paint I'd say no, but that crease has me thinking its not repairable.

yeah it stinks, but I'm trying to look on the bright side. more damage could have been done, she could have hit the door, etc etc. the only thing that worries me is the thin crease, like I said. Otherwise, a little professional paint, and it'd be good as new.

This is a sad day for you indeed. Get a new bumper for sure. If you start this is OK and that is OK you will soon be driving junk. You know how easy it is to locate and repair one rattle. Don't fix it and you will have a hard time locating the next one. Always park up hill from the shopping cart rack!!!

It happened at night, so I'm anxiously awaiting the morning to get a good look at it. Even with flood lights, cant tell how its gonna look in the daytime. I've spent hours staring at it, I'm starting to think I over exagerated a bit. It should be a much easier repair than I suspected, and I dont think I'll need a bumper afterall.

I'll know for sure when the sun is up ;p

LOL

Anyway since they're gonna pay for it just get a new bumper and make sure you get a quality paint job. It'll be forgotten before you know it.

<male pig mode on>

And further more this proves two things you can consider facts of life:

1. women can't drive
2. suv's stink

The car is a month old. ABSOLUTELY get a new bumper cover.

If any time in the car's life justifies it, this time certainly does.

A Mustang owner should be able to enjoy the apparent "newness" of their pony at least until the odometer turns 10k.

After 10k, it's really up to us to keep it looking at feeling new!

Aww, I'm so sorry that happened to you! I had a nightmare about the same thing, only it was out on the road and a little old lady hit my left-side backend while pulling into the gas station. I was glad to wake up and find out it was a dream.

And you guys, think all you want about women drivers. But all I can say is SOME women can't drive. Not all of them. I don't feel the urge to drink my coffee or put on makeup in my car, especially while going down the highway at 70mph. And I've treated my cars better than myself, so shove it.

It's the old people you really have to watch out for. I can't tell you all those horror stories.

Well that is a bummer.

I'll feel better parking on the edge of the parking lot now more than ever. My fiance thinks I'm obsessed.

She needs to get over it, I avoid parking lots when driving the stangs that is the job of my daily driver, or go at night to the stores when they are about to close and dont take them to walmart people there are out of control especially during the holidays, I have had a car keyed at the mall and it broke me on the parking lot thing. If she thinks your obcessed she never met me.
