Anybody using the silicone water blades (i.e., California Water Blade) to pre-dry their car? I know these are made out of medical grade silicone.. and advertisements state will not harm finish.. just looking for some real-world feedback.. Thx

I have one, but prefer the chamois method. But... my hood was crushed one time, and the new paint on the new hood just isn't the same as factory. The super soft waterblade was leaving marks on the paint. I'll have to try it on some of the original paint sometime when my car comes out of hybernation (4-6 weeks)

I think those waterblades are pretty cheap, so it won't cost much to pick one up and try it out. Let us know your experience.

I use it and I really like it, especially for all the horizontal surfaces. It gets rid of a lot of the standing water so the drying cloths don't get waterlogged.

I usually give the blade a wipe with my mircrofibre drying towel between swipes.

California water blade user. Mostly on flat surfaces where water stands.

Save your money and get a good waffle-weave microfiber towel... much safer for your finish.

I also use the waterblade to get rid of a lot of water quickly on flat surfaces. It is especially helpful on hot days when the water dries too quickly to wipe with a waffle weave.

So far I've not seen any damage - but then again, I keep my cars well-waxed.

Although I have a water blade in the arsenal, I prefer to "dab" my paint dry with huge 100% cotton toweling. I prefer not to drag anything over my paint to dry it. This method along with compressed air in the nooks and crannies I feel produces the least chance for scratches and swirls.

I am **** with my black Roush, and found the water blade to be very safe(as long as it is perfectly clean).

I've had one for over a year now and finally decided to start using it a couple weeks ago. I think it works great and haven't seen any negative affects.

the guys at my hand car wash used them constantly so i decided to get one and it works great. takes off most of the water quickly so drying isnt such a hassle (doesnt take it all off but it cuts drying time significantly). cars finish is perfect as ever

I have used the California water blade for years and it works great. However, only use it when you know your car is extremely clean. You should also clean it with soap and water before you use it on your car. It can leave some marks that look like "swirl marks" if you haven't waxed the car in a while.
