Question for you guys
This is something I have been wondering about since winter began. I've read over quite a few topics and I've drawn the conclusion that I am the ONLY member on this board that puts his 05 V6 away for the winter. Am I wrong?
Mine is a daily driver, but I do have a Detroit TrueTrac (a worm-gear locker). This is the best two wheel drive snow car that I have ever driven, even including front drivers. I also have four mud flaps to protect my finish.
Mine is a daily driver, has to be, I can only afford one car at the moment.
It handled the snow better than my focus did. And I didn't even need snow tires, just put the stockers back on.
The traction control is absolutely amazing. I've driven quite a few cars with traction control and the system in the mustang is leaps and bounds better than anything else I've experienced.

I have had three mustangs. They have all been driven in the Alberta winters. The City of Edmonton does not use salt on the roads as such we do not have a corrosion problem. I have found that if you take the time to apply the proper sealants (polymer) and a good wax then there is never a problem. Each spring the mustangs looks brand new.

When they put salt on the roads my V6 is parked.
If the weather is good, but cold I'll drive it as long as there is no salt on the road.
I never in my widest dreams would have thought I would have been able to drive my car as musch as I have this winter. Already have almost 3,000 miles and got it Nov 12th.
I have loved every mile of it

At the very least, go out and get a car cover. Covers pay for themselves in reduced wear and tear to your finish & wiper blades, plus the reduced number of cleaners & waxes you will use maintaining your car.
Mud Flaps are a great finish saver.
If you can, get a TrueTrac for the rear differential. It will make your 2005 Mustang into the best snow car you ever had. If you can avoid one accident with the TrueTrac, then it will have paid for itself, and more.
