One week since I got the car and even with all the rain we're expecting, I decided it was time.

I'm short. 5'5", but being female that doesn't bother me too much. Trying to clean the windshield on the car was really hard. I was practically on the car trying to reach the upper middle area near the pony.

Also, I always wash the passenger side of the car first because I don't really care about that side since I can't see it, but doing it first usually means I do a better job cleaning it. I put the windshield wiper up on the passenger side first, washed a little, then I went to put the driver's side wiper up, and it won't go. Had to walk around the car and put the wiper down so I could walk around the car and put a wiper up and then back around again.

Okay, I'm lazy and short, but it was annoying.

Oh, the sideview mirror cases are cheapest plastic I've ever seen on a car. Why did they do that to us?
5'5" for a female is not short, it's just about average actually.

Wow... Hateraide going on in this thread .

I'm 5'6" (and a guy and I have no problems being short )and can barely get the whole windshield without leaning on my fender. So I just get a stool out and I can reach no problem. Of course I could get something on a pole and make life easy.

For what it's worth, I'm 6'2", and never had a problem washing the roof of my Jeep, so the 'stang is certainly no problem.

My problem is that I've been driving a Jeep of one sort or another for nearly fifteen years, so I have to get back into the habit of washing and waxing my car! Washing a Jeep is kinjiru!

I'm not going nuts, tho - I just gave the orbital buffer that's been NIB in my basement for five years to Stangarang. I figure I'll never use it.....

Are you blonde?

As a matter of fact, I am blond.

How'd you know that?

To answer the other question, if I wash what I can see first, I always do a crappy job on the rest of the car. I always begin with the rims because I hate doing them and I know if I do them last, I won't do them at all. So I wash the passenger side before the driver's side or the hood because I know I'll do a better job on it.

I'm not sure if being blond has anything to do with it. I always do my least favorite chores first.

lower your cars suspension, it will look better and you can reach that extra bit more!

remember the golden rule for car washing, start from the top to bottom

if your car is black or dark color this is very important, you don't want to scrub in the dirt from the lower portions of your car into the hood

do lower portion and wheels last or at least with a different bucket

I have a black GT and will never touch the paint with anything but microfiber cloths and microfiber covered sponges and a Ca. duster
I use Meguires Next/tecWax and I love it (washing car is always easer with good wax on it) my car was a pain to wash before wax even when new

microfiber cloth is the best thing to come along in car care in a long time

use rainX on all outside windows, it is like polish and wax for glass, bugs come off easer and cleaning in general is easer

on brushes for car washing

if its a quaility "bores hair" brush they are good for lighter colored cars and windows and grills

the good ones are expensive though

on my car I would only use for glass and grill (mine is a soft synthetic type long handled brush)

The drivers wiper hits the passenger one, you have to put the drivers side up first.
Isn't that true of all cars? I have owned 6 cars and that's how they all worked.

A simple choice might be to go to a car wash if your having problems washing the car. If you want to wash the car at home you might consider going to home depot and purchasing a small plastic step, that way you could reach those hard to get at places. I have no problems with the mirrors. They were plastic on my 98 also.

Being all of 5' 3" I have a long stretch to reach some parts of my baby. A small step stool helps. As for liking washing my car.......well lets put it this way. My husband tells everyone that before I got my Mustang he'd never seen me wash a car......now that I have it I'm constantly out there washing and fussing over it! The funny thing is he's right! I just throw a good cd in the stero out in the garage, turn up the volume and go to it!!! I love my car!

Sounds like you should get your car lowered

My beefs with washing the car are where the water tends to pool... the grille and in the spoiler area (no spoiler delete in Canada in '06 :bang
