My 30 degree detail (lots o' pics)
My 30 degree detail (lots o' pics)
I had some time off work last week aso I decided to do a Winter detail on the car. Car was not crazy dirty as I "try' to wash weekly but I had just come back from a 2.5 hour road trip.

It had a lot of this kind of stuff all over

Dirty Wheels

Wash Supplies

The Meguiars Ultimate that I had applied 5 months ago was still beading pretty good so I used Dawn in my foam gum and wash bucket. On the wheels I used my normal Griots Garage wash soap.

Foamy!

For Clay I used the Meguiars kind that comes in the kit that you get at Walmart, AutoZone, etc. Solution is Optimum no Rinse at clay bar ratio.

After Clay

Paint is in pretty good condition. Mostly waterspots/etching and some typical wash induced marring. So I decided to just do a light polish with some Klasse AIO. I found a few light scratches that I will take care of at a later date and when its not 30 degrees outside.

More waterspots on decklid

This was enough Klasse to do about 2/3s of the car. Im using a Griots polisher with a Lake Country "tangerine" polishing pad.

Decklid after Klasse

Roof after Klasse

For wax/sealant Im testing out Blackfire Wet Diamond. This picture is after one coat. I used my polisher and a Lake Country "crimson" finishing pad.

I let the first coat cure overnight and applied second coat by hand.

Wheels waxed with Meguiars Ultimate. Wheel Wells and tires dressed with Meguiars Endurance Tire Gel.

Finished Product

All windows were Cleaned using Stoners Invisible Glass

Up Close Roof

Up Close Decklid

Garage overhead light reflecting off hood.

All shined up a ready for the New Year.

Total time spent was about 7 hours taking my sweet time and trying not to freeze to death. Initial impressions of BFWD is that the stuff is really easy to work with. Super easy to remove and did not stain trim. Not sure about durability but will update my findings in a few months.

Thanks for all the comments guys. It is definitely a labor of love. My gf called me insane for spending 3 days washing a car but after I showed her this thread she finally got it.
Still thinks im crazy though, but she washes her car at the car wash with that brush thing. So whose the crazy one?
