Meguires clay bar

Just finished clay barring the Bullitt. I used a Meguires clay bar for the first time. I've always used Zaino's clay bar in the past. It worked pretty well, but I don't think it was as good as Zaino's.

I've had good luck using the Meguires claybar. Can't imagine anything working much better for the money.

I use the Meguiar's stuff. I have not used the Zaino, so I cannot offer any comparison, but I do like the Meguiar's.

Rob, I would be curious what you saw or felt different between the two.

I have never used a clay bar, would it be able to take off caked on asphault oil or whatever it is.

My focus has this black stuff from driving through construction, its splashed behind the wheels in the sides of the car, regular hand washing it, it won't come off.

I'd use another product than a clay bar as once you get it in the putty its toast cant rub it around then I'd get stuff off then wash then clay bar then wax ? but what would I know.

Use 3M adhesive remover or some bug & tar remover. Spray it on, let it sit for a minute, then wipe it off. It might take a few applications and some elbow grease, but it should do the trick without harming your paint. Good luck!

I would raather use a dish soap and water solution over the megs spray that comes with their clay bar kit. I use the one from autozone (clay magic) for around 13 bucks.

I use Meguair's Clay Bar. As a matter of fact I used the clay bar yesterday followed by Meguairs Tech 2.0 Wax. Came out real well as usual.

yup, try that first

clay should get the rest...it was initially called overspray clay, because it was used to get overspray off the car, or atleast thats what I've been told

The Zaino clay just felt a little more stout. The Meguiars felt a little softer.

I will say this........For the money meguiars wins hands down. I should have said that in my original post.

Gotta, the Meg Gold Class is also a liquid, in a bottle. Its the ONLY Meguiar's wax I use. I used to use their original Tech Wax, but it never lasted very long and one rain fall took it off. I haven't used their 2.0 yet, but I have never had ANY issues with their Gold Class. That stuff in the sqeeze bottle is AMAZING stuff for the money!!!

Hey thanks I'll give that a whirl when my II runs out , I have the gold paste but didn't seem to like it , I think the II stood up more that the I did as it is supposed to have more polymers in it ?
Names Ed seems we can't add that yet.

I've been told that using any kind of soap with your clay bar will dry out the clay bar prematurely and render it useless. I stay stick with the Quick Detailer.

Yes it does. I use the dish soap treatment before doing a claybar/polish regimen. Otherwise never use the stuff.
