When going on a road trip of a couple hundred miles, what do you guys pack to clean the bugs and junk off the car after you arrive?

 

I would bring a quality brand of bug and tar remover and two or three clean cloths in case you need to use it. Since you stated you are only going a couple hundred miles, you probably don't need anything else. If you were going a couple thousand miles, then I would bring a small box with some car wash items and towels so you could wash your car if it gets real dirty. I don't trust car washes.

 

Bug and tar and/or quick detailer spray. I carry most of my cleaning stuff in the car all the time. I wash it at the dealer but use my own chamois/wash mitt/wheel cleaner/tire shine/wax/microfiber towels/brushes and applicator pads/mini CA duster, etc. I keep a 32quart clear plastic tub/lid velcro'd to the carpet. Its a low profile tub about 18"x24"x9" so its not top heavy, with a towel in the bottom so any damp stuff goes back in and nothing rattles(and of course if something spills)...

If birds hit the car I can fix it in 2 sec no matter where I am.

 

before leaving, spray the front end down with Rain-X Bug and Tar Guard. Available at Wal-Mart, Target, Zellers, etc. Bugs will not stick to the paint. They will wipe off easily with a wet cloth.

 

Also think a good thing to do would be to put an extra coat of wax on the front of the hood, front bumper, and the bottom side panels right behind the wheels where tar and bugs would accumulate.
