My Black GT is exactly one week old today. When I was performing my morning ritual of dusting my car before leaving for work, I saw that the passenger side has three scratches. Two on the door and one one the rear side panel next to the door.
Looks like someone took a key and scratched my baby.

Anybody has an idea, how do I get rid of these scratches? Any info would be valuable and appreciated.

Can you feel them with your fingernail?

run your fingernail over the scratches. if it catches in the scratch then they gotta be repainted or touchup paint. if it doesnt catch than u can buff them out as its only a minor deal

Hmm I'm sure you can get the touchup paint or try to feel if the scratch is just on the clearcoat. Do this by gently running your fingernails over the scratches. If you can feel the scratch, then you will need touchup paint. If not, you could probably take it to a detailer and he can buff it out.

I've learned from having my Envoy that it will be the last black car I own because of this very reason

Thanks guys, I did check the scratches, the two on the door are minor but one on the rear side panel is bigger. I can feel the big scratch with my fingernail but it doesn't really catch the scratch.
Is this something that I can take care on my own, if yes, could you guys please suggest some products that you have used before?

Here you go! I highly recommend www.autopia.org and their forums for anyone interested in car care with regard to interior/exterior issues. I learned a lot and was able to keep my previous Stang - a black '96 GT - in darn near perfect condition. The current owner cannot believe that it still has the factory paint B) Red/Black GT, in your case I'd highly recommend the purchase of a Porter Cable random orbital buffer, some Meguiar's Swirl Mark remover, and a few high quality pads. You'll be amazed

Ouch...I noticed when I visited the Dent Dr. that the one I used locally also did that kind of work. You might want to ask your local dent repair people if they also do that sort of repair. Good Luck, I know that bites at a week old.

I know i have a few on the back of mine, not noticable, I buffed them out ... and one by my spoiler.

I cant really tell if theyll be covered when I get stripes ... but if they arent, ill just have them touch up the blue paint while they are at it

When I bought my Black 03 GT VERT, I requested no prep. When going over the car myself during the 3 step process of cleaning, polishing, and waxing; I found 6 minor scratches and 6 minor paint blemishes. Keeping it nice and shiny was the best cure. It did get tiresome though.

Red/Black GT..... I hope this wasn't an act of vandalism, and if it was, usually they do much worse. I've got several scratches on mine, but they are all surface scratches.......and all of those were caused by some neighbors cat sleeping on my car. Another month (closing date) and I'll have covered parking when I move into my condo I bought the week after I got the Mustang.

Thanks for all the good advice and concern guys. I guess when the car attracts this much attention, it is both good and bad sides of it.
I almost feel like a celebrity driving this thing, people stop me and ask for rides. Every single time i leave my parking lot of work some collegue or other who wants a ride.
Well I have talked to my dealer and hopefully I will get the scratch fixed tomorrow.

last week i went to the mall, and i saw a screaming yellow GT parked on a yellow curb outside of the mall. it had a ticket on it. i guess the owner would rather pay for a parking ticket then get the GT bumped into or scratched lol
