Heard NOT to Wax Bumpers?
Somebody told me to not bother waxing bumpers or "running boards" of vechiles due to the fact that they are plastic or another composite. Im not totally convinved of that, i would assume you would wax these regions too. Does anyone have an answer for that? I know it seems stupid, but hey that hwy they make forums isnt it .... thank you
If they are painted bumbers you can most certainly use wax. Make sure it isn't a harsh compound though, just a regular wax.
Meguairs NXT tech wax is a great synthetic wax and Liquid Glass is a great non-synthetic wax. Both of these waxes don't leave a white residue like most waxes do and you can pick them up at walmart or your local autoparts store.
If the bumper is unpainted I suggest using Mothers Back to Black on the plastic.

It is VERY important TO wax the plastic parts. Whoever told you that is full of kha-kha. Polymer parts on cars absorb paint differently, and are more prone to fading from the UV rays of the sun. Definately wax them, and do it with a wax that offers strong UV protection. Otherwise you're plastic parts will match the sheetmetal less and less over time.
