Good buy? Zaino Total Protection kit

Since my new GT is my first new car, and will most likely be my last for a long time, I want to keep it looking as nice as possible.

I've heard lots of good things about Zaino products and did a little research and found this kit.

Zaino Total Protection kit

Edit: Not letting me direct link it, but here's what's included in the kit:

ZFX™ Flash Cure Accelerator Additive
Z-2 PRO™ Show Car Polish for Clear Coated Car Finishes
Z-5 PRO™ Show Car Polish for Swirl Marks and Fine Scratches
Z-6™ Ultra Clean Gloss Enhancer Spray
Z-7™ Show Car Wash
Z-18™ ClayBar
Zaino Metallic Silver Decal
& TWO Zaino Custom Polish Applicator for FREE!

It's $85, which is kind of high, but if it works, I'd grab it.

Just looking to see what the rest of the people here use. That kid looks like it would be a great thing to start with in order to keep my 5.0 looking good.

Also, what order do you do all of this stuff? I've never done any of this involved washing. Just soap and water for my Explorer.

I'm sure you will get recommendations for a number of good products. I've used Zaino since I got my 05. I've stayed with them because I have been more than satisfied with their products and when I had a question I called their number and got Sal on the line who spent alot of time with me.

I just ordered it, so hopefully I'll be able to use it this weekend. Probably not, but they are only in NJ, right across the river from me in PA.

Are there any detailed guides on how to actually use everything in the kit? I've never had to do any waxing/detailing on my Explorer, so I'm a total noob at this stuff.

There will be a detailed sheet with all the info in the package. One thing I've learned is "less is more" when it comes to using some of the products like Z6. It doesn't take much. It may not be per the rules/guidelines but I spray the detailer on the towel and wipe on, then use another towel.

Thanks for the responses. I ordered the kit last night. It won't get here until next week, so I'll have to wait until next weekend to give it a try.

Definitely not a high price for what you get. I spent $80 on a 16oz bottle of glase, and 16oz bottle of sealant. And I have 1 tub of caranuba that is $85....Although the brands are totally different, I'd say $85 for all those products is definitely worth a try!

+1 Been using Zaino 2 years on my 2 year old black '08 GT. It looks phenomenal. It looks a lot better than showroom new and people can't believe it is a daily driver. And the longer you use Zaino, the better it gets. I really think it looks better now than it did last year.

Little late on the response here, but work has kept me away from getting to this.

Never done the waxing/sealing on a car before. What steps do you do with this stuff?

Thanks.

That's a good idea. I'm sure someone out there has done a full length video on how to do it.

I did the exact same thing.
"Zaino'd" my 06 SatinSilver coupe first day home from dealer.
This kit has lasted me over (3) years.

I would also highly recommend the ClearSeal.
This will keep your ride showroom clean in the PA winters.
(only use "touchless" car washes) This stuff works. Period.
My car looks amazing, even though its a daily driver in MI winters.

As far as the "how to".......
Dig into the Zaino site and read. Then read some more.

First wash with Dawn, then clay bar, then wash with Zaino and so on.......
And you have 100% cotton towels made in USA?

Zaino is a great product. I've used it on my 05 since the weekend after I picked it up in November 04. I now have nearly 107k on it and I still get people walking up to me in gas stations complimenting me on how good it looks.

It is true that the more you use it the better it gets. The "Less is more" is true as well. Don't waste the product.

I'll be stripping, clay bar'ing, langka'ing, and waxing it again sometime over the next few weeks. A bunch of rock chips to fill and I figure it's due for some TLC after years . Front bumper is probably a lost cause though .

I don't use Zaino myself, but I wanted to throw in my 2 cents on a couple of things that I have seen on the previous posts:

1. Never, ever, EVER wash your car with a dish detergent. In time it can cause damage to your paint and possibly clear coat failure as well as drying out the rubber and plastic trim.

2. I would highly advise against using ANY automatic car wash. Even the touchless ones since the soaps used are high in alkalinity and can strip the sealant/wax you have applied. I suggest using a quality waterless wash (ahem, CroftGateUSA ) during the winter or at minimum just spraying down the car with clean water.

Nothing against any of the ways you guys and gals are doing things, just wanted to help you save your paint on your pride and joy.

Andy
