Hey Folks. I recently bought a set of takeoff 18" polished fanblades, and I'm wondering what is the best and safest way to clean these wheels between car washes. When I had the painted silver bullitts, I used a spray-on quick detailer. But now parts of the wheels are polished, parts are painted. Any recommendations?

 

Good question. I jumped on here so I also can learn.

 

My best guess? Your wheels are probably clear-coated. So wash and wax (or spray) as you did before. If by some chance they're not, Flitz is a great product to use on the polished parts.

Eagle 1 make a great polish for polished wheels.Mothers and Meguairs also have good products for non-clear coated wheels.

Regardless of color coat or clearcoat -- treat them just like you did your previous wheels.

Use products safe for clearcoated factory wheels and you'll be fine.

If you use a spray-on, hose-off wheel cleaner, make sure you follow the directions, rinse well, and follow with sudsy car wash solution. Wash frequently with car wash. Hit it with your detailer or spray wax for shine and protection.

I'm not a fan of Wheel Wax simply because spray wax (I use FX) is so much easier to use, but a lot of guys like it.
