I used windex the other day and then last night I was driving in the rain and I saw really bad streaks on the inside front window. Anyone have any better cleaners I can try?

 

Were you using the regular Windex or the streak-free stuff? I use the streak free version of Windex and I have no problems. I used to get streaking when I was using a cloth and attempting to get way down by the dash were no mans hand can go. I bought a wedge shape cloth with ah handle that meguiares makes and haven't had a streak since.

I was using the "streak free" one, but I guess it isn't living up to its name. I'm going to try it again, see how it goes.

 

you know what works well...soap and water when washing it and then dry it with a chamois and it wont leave streaks seriously, have to do insie the same way too.

Clearvue is a good product to buy though...can get it at PepBoys

 

I swear by Invisible Glass. It's amazing... clean both sides of the glass with it and you will swear there is no glass there.

According to them, your paper towel may contain chemicals that cause the streaking.

You can pick it up at Target, Autozone, Checkers and such.

 

I love invisible glass. It is safe for tinted windows too. It is a foam so when you spray you don't get Windex all over the place. Awesome stuff.

 

Whatever cleaner you use, don't ever use those blue paper "shop towels". They are the worst thing to use on glass.

 

The water 80% vinegar 20% solution stated in another reply is great - works very well and its cheap.

Also, use black & white ink printed NEWSPAPER instead of a rag/papertowel. Don't use newpaper pages with colored ink. You'll be very surprised/pleased at this tip/suggestion !!!

 

All great info for inside glass, I'll ad use microfiber clothes on glass

on all outside glass try using RAINx, I have used since the 80s and its not just for rain, it seals the pores in glass and makes it much easer to clean bugs etc. but in general windows look better and clean up better

my windshield always seems to fog up on the inside of the car even with the windows down on clear nights or semi humid it doesnt matter. ne suggestions on that. Climate control is off. i usually have to turn it on to get the window defogged though.

 

I found I had the same problem. The front window seems to fog up extreamly fast.

 

I've noticed my windshield fogging up bad too! Its very humid here and its hard to keep it clear. I found some stuff by RainX tonight AntiFog for the interior windows. Just got it tonight so I don't know how it is... but I'll let ya know. ALSO.... Invisible Glass rocks! Along with a microfiber cloth.

I got some Invisible Glass this weekend....Very nice stuff!

 

My nephew did a school project on what the best cleaner is for glass and you'll never believe what was the best. 1 drop of Dawn liquid dish soap in a spray bottle and the rest of the bottle filled with water. Spray it on the window and use a squeegee to wipe it off. Since for obvious reasons we would want to use a squeegee inside the car I tried it and used paper towels. Streak free and very clean. Alot cheaper than windex too

 

Little trick my mom handed down. She used to live in the projects of Cleveland and as such didn't have much money. They used to use newsprint to clean windows, and let me tell you... you will NEVER get a better looking shine on your glass. I use it on the inside too, and it prevents streaking.

I've also used strait distilled water and a micro-fiber cloth. That's not bad, but nothing beats new print. I'm an internet man, so I don't have much newsprint to use anymore... although if I did, I'd surly be using that! It's amazing!
