I was driving to my softball game and a black cat sprinted out from some tall grass and met the front of my car. I looked in the review mirror and saw the cat flying through the air into the ditch and strips of black plastic flying through the air. Then i hear something rubbing the tire! I pull over at the nearest place get out of my car and see the front lower grill not there and big hiney crack and dent in the front bumper and my radiator is empty in less that 5 minutes! It wasn't a cougar... it was a normal sized cat. :bang:

Sad day in Mustang land.

Sorry man. That's a terrible thing. Wouldn't figure a regular cat would do all that.

Hope you get it fixed soon.

Did you stop after hitting this animal? Did you look to see if it had tags? Honestly if pet owner wants their pet to be safe it should be kept inside, However that is by no means authorization for you to 'hit and run'. Sorry to hear about your car ...

That stinks - sorry about the damage, but I'm not surprised.
Some of the parts used in all cars are unbelievably light in weight.
Check it out on the replacement parts when you get the repair.

Emptied coolant - thats enough impact to cash in all of what remained of those nine lives!

Well the mustang can be repaired, but some cat owner is going to miss there friend which doesnt sound like it could be repaired. Hate to say it, but a car is just a car. Yes the mustang is a nice car. But still it can be replaced. Life of cat, dog, person, cant be replaced. Sorry to hear about both.

While my first thought was "Stupid cat, at least it's dead now...", some of your posts reminded me that cats are peoples pets too. While I'm a dog person myself, I understand. As a pet owner, they can be a true member of the family. Going forward, hopefully we'll be able to stop, check tags, and give the owners courtesy of burying their pet.

Sorry about the car, good luck w/ the fix. I'm sure you're ticked about it.

I almost ran into a Cow on the way to work this morning, but then I wasn't in a Mustang so it didn't really matter...

That thing was bigger than my car though it would have stinked

Well, lirathal has a point!!! You should have stopped to see if the cat had on a tag so you could get the owner to pay for the damages.

It also appears that you may have a case here. It sounds like the cat did a hit and fly. You did say the cat flew into a ditch right? There is your proof. Good luck and I would begin the investagation starting from the ditch.

Hit a cat??? Never had that happen to me. Hit a bird once, but never a cat.

I know you are all just poking fun... and I also know that some people are not cat people...

But, lets show some compassion for a life here. I have three cats, and I can tell you that if my big black female, or rag doll were to meet the front of a Mustang the damage described here is on target. both my cats are about 20 pounds... the third one, he is a skinny little guy, only 8 pounds.

Anyway, sad day in Mustang land for sure... even sadder day for that pets owner. I ALWAYS pull over and check for tags. I have never been the "hitter", but, I have been known to pick up dead cats and dogs and turn them into the humane society. What would you do if you saw a human body? You wouldnt let it just lie there...
