Are you younger guys able to afford insurance?

I realize there are not too many younger folks on this forum but has your insurance costs prohibited you from buying a newer model Mustang? I imagine anything older than say, 5 - 7 years, might be affordable. I'm just curious how you guys are doing. It used to be near impossible to own a muscle car when in your teens or 20's unless your folks helped you out. I know I sure could not swing both the payment and insurance. I could not buy my first new car until I was 28 years old (an '82 Mustang GT for $9.600) with a perfect driving record.
One of the few benefits of getting older is the low insurance rates for higher dollar cars. I didn't even check when I bought my 2020 Challenger last year and sure enough the insurance was a non factor, maybe $200 higher each year than my 14 year old Mustang.

To give an example of how bad the under 25 male crowd gets screwed, I bought a brand new 1990 Probe GT turbo just before I turned 25. Even with my safe driver discount, insurance was through the roof. Fast forward 6 months later, when I had turned 25. During that time, I racked up 3 speeding tickets and had to attend defensive driving just to keep my license. Needless to say, I lost my discount. However, my premium was still significantly lower because I was suddenly a responsible 25 year old and not an immature 24 year old.

Same here I bought my brand new '89 Mustang GT when I was 24. Insurance went from $120 a month to $75 when I turned 25. Now I pay $50 a month for full coverage for my Boss.

This is never going to stop being a thing. Being single, male and under 25 is an automatic 'idiot charge' that's going to be applied regardless of the car you choose/are given to drive. Then you add something like 'overpowered twitchy racecar charge' to that when you talk V8+ sports/muscle cars, like the Mustang GT or Camaro ZL1 or such. Because "idiot + V8+ = Automatic shenanigans that cause damages, heck to the naw fam, you gonna pay us first."
(Note: at least in the United States, mind, I can't speak for any other country, but it would not be a stretch to say many other countries might have the same thing happening.)

And while plenty of us who are now older and somehow wound up relatively to completely unscathed during our formative driving years, there are unfortunately statistics on the side of the insurance agencies that say "yep, they're all idiots, every one of them. Put them in a 4 cylinder automatic minivan until they learn better."

While you might think "that's silly!" the facts are what they are:
1 - If you're male, you have a knock because males tend to be more aggressive when driving as a rule.
2 - If you're young, you just doubled that aggressive driving because YOLO adrenaline rush showoff what I got peacock struttin' idiocy ensues. (We've *all* done it, don't lie.)
3 - Single? Yeah, that's another multiplier, see 2, ya freakin' showoffs, tryin' to catch the girlies... or the boy..ies? Both? Whatever floats y'all'n's boat, I'm sure, but you're still lookin' to catch a fish either way, yep. "LOOK. AT. ME." - Joker, The Dark Knight.
4 - V8+ happens, multiply some more, because more reason/easier to do the above stuff that winds up getting out of hand much faster. Although today, the v6s and i4s are as stupidly powered as the V8+s used to be, so I dunno if this means anything anymore, but they still do it. More HP/Tq is still more HP/Tq, I suppose, so harder hitting maybe. IDK.

Point is, my fellow young male kids, you guys need to work on your driving habits, because they (siphon with a large amount of negative pressure), and it hurts us all. Or something, whatever, I'm old now, so I ain't got that problem.

/Until I'm at a Cars and Coffee or something and you take your Chally out and do a burn out and spin that car right into my stuff, THEN I got a problem... don't do that, thanks.

Well I am 37 and my insurance for all the vehicles cost me around $286 a month but that's 3 cars a truck and a jeep. Not that outrageous. The gt mustang is through a separate insurance company because nation wide said they dont insure sports cars but the insure my 08 V6 lol
