Who lives in California and does not have a garage?

I just washed my (black) car today and it was so dusty it basically looked brown. I don't have a garage or a covered parking spot so I'm considering getting a car cover. How much of a hassle is it to put on and remove them? Also, is there a specific brand that's better than the rest?

Im in the same boat. However, i dont know if putting on a car cover frequently would be a good idea. I'd fear getting scratches.
As for putting them on, i havent tried on the stang, but on another car i had, it was pretty easy. Most worrisome thing is the antenna bending, and again the risk of scratching.
Maybe a cover specific to the mustang would be different? Let me know how it goes for you, i also hate the dust around here

My solution has been to just do a waterless wash every week.

I bought the CoverKing thru Costco. Excellent fit, good price, water resistant and breathable, no scratches (but I only cover after a wash). I cover during winter storage in the garage just for woodworking dust, and sometimes if I leave it in the driveway during summer to prevent tree sap.
But it also protected me from hail during a thunderstorm in July. You feed the antenna through the hole/tube first, next the mirrors in their pockets, then wrap the elastic under each bumper cover. Quick and easy.

I wound up buying another one for my winter car and it too is an excellent fit.

How badly can a car cover scratch the paint? And how would it even do that?

I live at m fraternity in Berkeley, and we have no garage. plus its dirt, and we get a lot of leaves, pollen, pine needles and sap all the time

It basically encourages me to never wash my car and its a PITA. I coverr my '76 because it is not my daily driver, but unfortunately the beautiful DHG of my car is often covered in schmutz.

I've never head of a cover scratching the paint though. I suppose I can see it happening if the cover is made of cheap material, but the BMW cover I use on the II has never scratched any car its been on.

Maybe he's referring to swirls in the clearcoat. I could see that happening putting a cover on a dirty car.

Concerns about the antenna can be eliminated by getting a stubby antenna. Mine was 20 odd dollars, screws on in place of the original, and is rigid.

Ideally, the car would never get dusty if I would put the cover on it anytime I wasn't driving it...right?

Perhaps, but I'm off a gravel road with a gritty dust. The only time my car looks clean is in the driveway. By the time I get to the highway and head to town its already dusty, plus those gawdawful bugs along the lake.
So obviously I do a lot of washes. And only put the cover on afterward.
In the city or along the beach may be different.

i say that cause i would fear if you remove and then put back on the cover everyday(or really often), then possibly stuff could get caught up in the cover, or it could get dirty(then im guessing youd have to clean it every time or shake it out).
Especially when its windy. So its not so much the cover itself scratching, but the constant removal and reapplying, dust/other crap getting caught up in it, etc. For long term yeah it probably wont scratch. You sound like you would be using it often and removing often, so thats why im just sayin be extra careful, especially if you end up putting it on by yourself. Dont think itd be big scratches either, maybe tiny ones if any

And also the cover i used was a cheapo general one from walmart for my old corolla. Idk if it ever scratched cause i never cared lol. But i only used it a few times to cover it since id bought the stang and wasnt using the corolla. I havent bothered with it for the stang since i just prefer to clean it every week
