Wheel polish

Just seeing what everyone else uses and may e tops they do with their wheels. I am pretty stringent with wheels and pretty much everything else on the vehicle. I was wandering what everyone uses to protect their wheels if anything. I usually use just some sort of sealant but I was thinking of using a polish by (The chemical guys) called max guard wheel polish. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks

also interested to hear if there is actually anything better for wheels than regular polish/wax like you would use on the rest of the car

I am very meticulous with my cars yet I use simple spray wax on the wheels, like Eagle Nanowax or Mother's spray wax. My Mustang GT/CS rims (60k miles) are fine after 13 years now. Even the poorly made chrome rims on my Trans Am (69k miles) are show quality after 19 years. With the cars being garage kept all their lives and the wax used every month or two, no issues. These are recent 2020 car show photos of both. I do the same treatment with my C6 but it only has 10,000 miles so there should no issues anyway. Sometimes the simplest upkeep can be the best.

Thanks that was what I was thinking doing with mine was the spray wax or just the same wax that I use on the car it self. Did you ever try to use the ceramic spray on them yet.

No, I personally feel it is rather gimmicky and not really an improvement on anything. I'm sure it works fine but I don't change unless they stop making a certain product. I use Griot's Carnauba paste wax on the cars themselves but have used Mother's Carnauba as well. There is a very slight difference between the two but not worth the $15 price spread in my opinion. They both shine brilliantly. If you get into 'points' car shows many owners use extremely high end waxes. "Been there done that" when I had an old air cooled '95 911 yet I still won awards with the Mothers' $10 bottle. Many owners feel different about these things but almost anything with a solid name brand will protect your wheels and paint if you keep up with it. That's the key. Taking 6 months off won't help especially if you have to keep your car out in the elements.

is that a special "wheel wax" or regular car wax applied to the wheels?
