We've all heard of Cobra's, Mach's, Saleens, Boss, 5.0, etc. But which mustang is the fastest? I'm talking blowing doors off cars. My friend told me that he downloaded a video and it was a Trans Am and A Saleen. According to him it was a "newer" Saleen, and he said the Trans Am Smoked the Saleen. How fast are the saleen's, i mean the S-351 is pushing at least 495 bhp ...your thoughts please........someone please drop some knowledge...thanks

 

The 2004 Saleen S-281E has 445 hp and 450 ft.-lbs. of torque. I would be suprised if another turn-key, street-legal Mustang could beat that in stock form.

During the 1997 Bonneville Speed Trials, Bill Wideman piloted his "Old Muscle" 1966 Mustang fastback to a two-way average of 233.529 mph as he skimmed across the hard-packed salt. The car made use of an 875-horsepower 302-cube V-8 fed by a pair of turbochargers.

I have an old Road & Track somewhere that has a 88-90? Cartech Turbo GT that went 177mph if I remember correctly. I think the same issue might of had a SVO/JBA 351 cu in. Mustang with a Capri bubble hatch and fender flares that was quicker, but not faster?

I just saw an article in a magazine about a nearly-stock 03 Cobra (white) running at the salt flats - no limiter. I can't remember the mag, and I'm not home so I can't look for it. Any help out there?

But you'll have to clarify "blowin doors off cars" - top speed? 1/4 mile? 50-100?? A big rig passes me on the freeway and nearly blows my doors off...

that white 03 cobra is also in all the ads for eibach springs or some other spring company....i'm not sure what mods are done to it but in the pictures it has diablo sport stickers and a few others, so i'm thinking its chipped and has minor bolt ons. It ran 176.xxxmph on street tires according to the ad, it is street legal, was not trailered to that event at the salt flats, and I know a local 03 cobra thats only 16mph slower...

 

I forget which magazine had it, but wasn't there a 93 Cobra with a blower the went ~190 mph?

 

I'm not sure if its the same thing, but for about the last year, there has been a 4 page ad in MM&FF and I think 5.0 and SF about this guy who wants to use rocket science or something to push his 93 cobra past the 250 or 300mph mark. I just flipped through the July MM&FF and I couldn't find it, and i'm to lazy to look through my old ones (I just got back from Fords at the Mall!)...does anyone remember that ad? It was made up to look like a newspaper headline and it had small pics of all sorts of books about rocket science and books about 5.0's and I remember the guy was accepting donations, but I can't remember which speed barrier he wanted to break. I honestly think it was 300mph cause I remember it was an insane speed.

Stock = I'm pretty sure it's the Cobra R..

I beleive it ran into the 110's on a Quarter Mile strip.

Wonder if this video is the one with a white saleen mustang getting beat by a black trans-am? Can you justify this, cuz I downloaded a vid a few months back with a saleen getting killed by a trans-am?
