What brake pads to use???
Hello to everyone,
I drive a 2005 v6 Mustang and Im in need of changing my front and rear brake pads and wondering which ones 2 get. I walked into Auto Zone today and they had 3 options- $30, $50, $65. Do you really get better quality for the more expensive ones? I noticed the ones for around $65 came with lube and retaining clips. Do the cheaper ones include retaining clips? Im changing my brakes myself for the 1st time and just trying to get the right pads.

Order some ebc greenstuff online, or hawk pads. They are more performance orientated. Keep in min you also have to replace or "turn" your rotors. If you you have to replace get some slotted ones. I'd your looking for better braking, you should consider stainless steel brake lines, there fairly cheap and super effective.

Are you tracking your car or have a specific need for better braking? If not, then I'd just go with the cheapest pads you can find. I also just recently replaced my pads on my 05 V6 and I went with the $30 ones from Autozone and they stop just fine.
As was mentioned, make sure you get the rotors turned as well. I think O'reillys said they do it for $15 per rotor.

Get the Wagner pads from oreilly if you dont really want any improvenment over stock. They have a lifetime warranty, so when ever you need new ones you bring them the old ones and you the new ones for free.

Have you actually done this? Free lifetime replacement of a consumable item just doesn't sound right to me. A lifetime warranty for defects makes sense, but not just for normal wear.
