What is the best way to store winter tires?

I have a set that will sit all summer in the garage and I was wondering what is the best way to store them? in a stack on their side walls or standing on their treads?

right on the concreate, on a piece of plywood or try to keep them elevated so no rubber touches anything?

I had my wife make some covers out of heavy denim, and stored them in my shed on the tread. they seemed fine when I switched them out this April.

I think the main things are to keep them in the shade (UV light/sunlight will age them faster), and keep the air pressure up. I've read several places that you should NOT coat them with Armor-All.
