So Mustangs have been added to the list of vehicles. Called my service manager and was told yes, but Ford will send letters out when the replacement air bags are available.

Oy..... not what I wanted to hear. Just a heads up for you all.

You're a little late to the party, we've been talking about it for the past couple of days.

Does your whole mustang logo steering wheel airbag cover get replaced?

Reason being, I have some annoying scratches on the pony emblem from the prior owner.

I doubt it. It's not the air bag but the igniter that is replaced.

I should have said inflator rather than igniter.

Sure they try a repair on the aluminium hood less then 12 months old just before warrenty expired they had me jumping dealer to ford to dealer saying its third problem . The I fight for 6 years to get ford to bend I paid 40% Ford 40% & dealer 20% that's 100% then two months go by Ford wants my old hood actually demanded it back , ah no it's mine give me my $600.00 back you can have it.
Then I had a rock tossed through my passenger window I left door panel off & said I literally removed all seats etc to get out all glass , it's a convertable, no way do I. Want a passenger or me getting a shard in the eye they wouldn't have gone that far , so I said the clamps that hold the window on will have glass that's all they'll have to remove 😡they did not, they didn't even install the window correctly it's slow it squeaks & if I took my car in for an airbag I'll bet my life they hold my car ransom for the hood. So no airbag I don't need one & never have.

i am with you on the dealership service dept, they lost me years ago, and if i was going to run the front of my car into anything, i wouldnt be doing so in a mustang. But my fear is that the airbag just goes off one day in my face, and i wont be able to tell people that i dont run into things with my car anymore, because i would have no choice but to drive the car into the dealership.

I am not disconnecting them either.
I have already been injured due to airbags.
I figure they might hurt me, they might not (crap shoot no matter what).
Remember to wear your seatbelt.

Interesting has anyone here received a letter from Ford prom missing that as soon as the dealer gets the parts that they will be in touch ? A few months ago.
I just got one from a legal firm I think is going after Ford and seemed keen my car was I the list and asked me not to do a thing for a bit😳
Go get em

interesting re: possible law suit. Was wondering what Ford liability is since they know of dangerous problem but are not able or willing to fix. Wonder if lemon law applies. I like my Mustang like others but do have concern about dangers of air bag. FYI anyone else receive notification about class action law suit.Of course in most class action law suits only the attorneys make out well.

Still surprised Ford is getting away with this.

Its not that ford doesn't want to replace them, they just dont have the corrected parts yet. The airbag company still doesn't know what is causing the problems so all the automakers that use them have to wait.

I get it but doesn't it seem wrong that huge corporations sell a defective part that has and could cause injury to owners, take months/years to find a solution while the owners have the physical liability?

It seems there should be a little more urgency to this than there seems to be ?

Look at all the fuss regarding the Volkswagon issue which is not really a safety issue.

Wonder if continuing to drive our vehicles after being informed of problem releases Ford of any liability if you are injured by an air bag deployment ?

Just sayin....

I'll tell you one thing about this whole fiasco - multiple dealers wouldn't take my car in as a trade in due to the airbag recall not being done. One low balled me, and one Ford dealer said they actually could take it in, due to having a waiver from Ford to be able to sell them with a disclosure form to the customer.

I didn't end up trading my car, and pretty sure I'm going to be able to keep it, but just for anyone else thinking about trading their car. I know at least one other guy on here had the same experience.

Think of how long it took to manufacture all those parts... They weren't running at 25% capacity to get those out the door. It's going to take just as long to make new ones.
