Tremec 3650 3rd Gear Problem

Hi I'm new on here. I have a 2005 GT Manual. Last night my transmission started grinding going into 3rd gear. It happens most often when i quickly shift from second to third when the transmissions warm. if i slowly shift it will go in smooth sometimes. i changed the transmission fluid today and it didn't help. I do have an extended warranty on the car but I'm wondering how much hassle the dealers going to give me when i take the car in with the mods it has done to it. Is it worth the hassle or should just purchase another tranny and fix it myself. i found one with 10,000 miles on it for 600. my car currently has 85,000 on it. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

I would take it to the dealer and see if it's covered under the warranty (since you have it anyway), if it's not covered then look into other alternatives.

Welcome to TMS.

Might not want to let the dealer see that avatar.

lol yea might not be good if they see that pic. Last time i took it in they gave me hassle about replacing the alternator. The battery wasn't charging and was going dead. I don't know how many times they asked me "what do you mean when you say the battery is dead?"

I have a hard time letting anyone but me work on my car, lol. Kind of a control freak. Once the transmission is out i want to be able to see everything in there. I figure its probably due four a clutch soon at 85,000 miles it never slips but i don't want to have the transmission out twice.
