TPMS question

Hi everyone, I just replaced the tires and wheels on my 2014 Mustang gt. I went with American Muscle s550 performance pack style wheels. To my surprise it did not make the tpms light come on. Anyone know why? The light does work or is not blocked because it comes on with the rest of the lights when ignition is first turned on.

Did your new wheels come with tpms sensors? I am assuming so, and if they did it might be because it sensed them and did a relearn on it's own which I have never seen but never impossible.

Thats what I guessed too. They did come with sensors and a ford sinc tool that I didnt have to use. If they are Ford sensers maybe the car recognised them.

I did see this mentioned on other forums. Seems like the OEM sensors do have the ability to self learn in the later S197 cars. Not positive if this is correct. I have always used a little remote looking tool to reset mine after a up down up down left right left right type routine on the steering wheel. I would check your manual or contact the dealer, but it sounds like it worked or the warning light would stay on.

Sometimes they seem to synch themselves automatically -- I am not sure why they don't or do sometimes, In the past I have bought one set of aftermarket wheels (American Muscle) where they needed to be synched manually, and another set of OEM wheels where they seemed to do it themselves automatically.

The other key thing is to get the sensors that are compatible with your car. I assume American Muscle took care of that, and gave you sensors that are compatible with your 2014 car. The 2015+ cars use different sensors, I am not sure if the aftermarket has developed "universal" sensors that work across the generations or not. I believe the 2005-2009, 2010-2014, and 2015+ systems operate on different frequencies.
