Tech question
Saw a youtube video on where the 10 hp on 22 GT's went. They took off the intake and just above the filter was a little compartment with
a charcoal filter in it. Lots of you probably know about this. After taking the second filter out, it dyno'd 9 more hp. They said find a 21 or older intake and replace it
from your 22 GT and get back to 460hp. Great, but why replace the whole intake, just take out the charcoal filter and be done. Am I missing something?

the question is not where did the 10 hp go, but why did did the video I saw say to replace the intake with a pre-22 one, rather than just take
the charcoal filter out? If previously addressed, my bad.

Watched the video of no. 6. Wish it were a GT and not Mach1, different parts, different filters., but the fact that he just took out the offending filter seems
to answer my question. The video I saw before gave a totally different impression, plus the guy actually said replace the intake. I think I can feel comfortable knowing
that just taking it (the charcoal filter) out is ok. Thanks for the info, very helpful as usual..

The hydrocarbon filter devices located inside the air intake tubes are designed specifically for emission purposes... Ford also implemented those in the 2005 S197 cars but discontinued using them beginning for the 2006 model years, as they were found to serve no worthwhile purpose.... After removing it from my 2005 GT's intake tube, I actually gained up to 5-6HP with no negative issues at all... Therefore, just removing the hydrocarbon device alone is all you really need in order to gain back the 10HP which had previously been lost...

Exactly the answer I was looking for, thank you. I have already taken mine out (and ran a 12.5 et and later150mph) but wanted
assurance I wasnt doing anything harmful to the engine. I can quit worrying, thanks again.
