SVT to Change its Name to "999"? What the ... ?


It’s only a rumor at this point, but thanks to a leaked customer survey, there is a slight possibility the Special Vehicle Team may change its name. It has been known as other names in the past, but what is the new potential name, and how is it significant to Ford?

So when I flip my 2017 999 mustang and I'm trapped in the car burning alive my rear medallion will say 666?

Yes. I read the article already and know about the 999. Thing is it doesn't matter to me. They've spent 21 years with SVT. Going to 999 is like starting over. Besides the numbering is just dumb. Make a singles car called 999 again but don't rename a whole division.

According to Ford racing history the first original racecar they made was named 999.
