Cool Surprise Surprise....

Decided to try a small experiment...

Well, surprise surprise... ^^

We went to our local Ford dealer (Apple Ford, York, Pa.) and met with a rather nice sales vulture named Lizzie and asked questions about the 2017 Mustang GT there on the lot.

(It was a very very nicely used Race Red coupe with only 8,000 miles. Wow.... )

With Leslie's permission, we tried sitting in the Mustang, and guess what... we all did, rather comfortably as well. Our daughter who is 5'1, sat best in the seat behind my wife who is 5'3", and I even sat in the passenger seat a good bit forward as I'm 5'7" and daughter said she still had room for her legs and feet. Her head didn't hit the rear glass or the roof edge and said the seat was comfortable. I didn't sit in the rear seat myself because the temps were over 90* outside.

Leslie did ask if we wanted to take the car for a test drive, but I declined, saying I will take one when my finances are able to buy one that night. I did start the GT tho, and I loved how it sounded, so did wife and daughter.

If I had the cash for the Mustang GT, I would have purchased it right there. ^^

Overall, I was very impressed, and even with the wife and daughter's blessings. After my SSDI case settles after 8 years, (Hopefully) I'll find myself in a new 2022 GT OR a factory built Mach 1 in Grabber Blue, Race Red or Ice White for my wife. Our last Mustang we would have owned since 2003 when we got married.

Cheers everyone.

That $35,900 price (before negotiations) seems reasonable for such an ultra low mileage ride. https://www.appleautomotive.com/used...dcdd54d727.htm

With the escalated used car prices right now, and new cars selling for over 'sticker', this car stands out as long as everything is 100%. Too bad you couldn't pull the trigger. Good luck when the right purchase time comes around.

Oh I definitely agree with that. I seen the mileage and did a double-take and thought I was looking at the tripometer... but Lizzie did verify the mileage as a hair over 8,000. 🤯 And I thought our 2019 Toyota Sienna had low mileage when we got it in December 2019 with only 1320 miles.

Lizzie did say when the time came, that she would help us get the Mustang that we wanted, and she would build us one, or find one from the network of dealers that she has access to, or something like that... ^^

Cheers,

how do you know if you want to buy something, if you've never actually seen it yet?

Exactly 100% spot on.. I want to see/look over the vehicle up close, in person to determine whether I like it well enough before buying it.. Otherwise, how else are you really going to know for certain if you've never actually seen the car in person first!

Smile Well,

*Signs* Well I do see your point, but I think I did have a good reason for just looking at this point, about how much room there was in the Mustang. If I would be waiting when I got my SSDI, I wouldn't have had the chance to plan at the last minute. I like planning things well before hand.

I did ask Lizzie if I was wasting her time, but she didn't mind at all, and she feels I will be returning, because she helped me first. I did thank her for being a good sales person, she wasn't pushy at all, but she did answer questions I had asked. And she even offered to build me a car if she didn't find any in the network.

cheers...

I think you did the right thing. If it had not worked out you could move on to some other model for a dream car. Now you know! I too find that if I visit the dealership I tend to end up with a new vehicle. Main reason I have the one I do. Saw one on the lot I liked. Stopped by to check it out. About a week later I was in there ordering the one I have.

Especially when it comes to purchasing that special dream car.. When we ordered our first S197 back in November of 2004, It was during a visit to our local Ford Dealership.. Prior to placing our order, we had to make absolutely certain that we liked everything about the car first, such as the styling, color, trim package - premium vs base and deluxe... Once we saw the one we liked the most, we went ahead and proceeded with placing our order... That being said, when it comes to making such a huge investment, like the purchase of a new vehicle, I want to see it up close, in the flesh before putting my name upon the dotted line...

You hit the nail on the head brother. Since I sold my '06 GT (a fella had more dollars than he has sense) I've wanted another. Those dang S-197's are habit forming (why didn't someone tell me that? ) It's been a difficult search as a decent example is rare as hen's teeth in my area. But wouldn't you know it, my friend that I bought my '06 from has two that he just put on the lot. An '07 vert 6 speed (gotta have a manual) with 58K miles, and an '07 coupe 6 speed with 15K (yep 15K), and the prices have gone crazy high. But, I'm going over tomorrow for a test drive of both. Having more years behind me than in front of me I don't have much "wait" left in me, so I best get on the ball.

^^^ V8 prices probably will not be coming down anyway. With Dodge saying bye-bye to the Hemi in 2023 and the Camaro not long for this world, that only leaves the Mustang as a V8 choice unless you can swing a Corvette.

Very true my friend. Finding an S197 GT that doesn't have over 100K miles is getting harder, and harder. And it will not get any easier as time goes on. So, those well maintained and low mileage ones (like your previous GT/CS) are commanding higher prices. Like you, I don't see the prices coming down either.
