sugar in gas tank
you realize they need a long funnel because the cap has a spill safety in front of it right?!?!?!? so if they simply tried to pour it would not make it to the tank it would just spill out behind your tire.
I put a locking cap on all of my vehicles, but not just to keep **** like that from happening.
It keeps the pump jockeys from trying to put gas in my vehicle before I even get out and tell them I'll get it. 99% of them are lazy idiots and will dump gas down your fender or scratch your **** without a second thought. Even here in South Jersey, where it's illegal to, I always pump my own.

I had sugar put in the gas tank of a VW Quantum with fuel injection , a few years ago. I didn't know at the time it had happened, but the car started missing off and on for a few weeks and then the fuel pump locked-up and I
replaced with a used one from a junk yard after that one also failed I took
it back to the JY that I bought it from, and they laughed at me when they saw all the sugar crystals that had grown on the pump......it was at that point I learned what sugar could do. The VW had lots of miles on it and I just could not get it running right, after that, so finely I just gave up and sold it for scrap.
Now, if that happened to my new Mustang.....well that would be ugly!
I think I should get a "locking cap".

Have any of you tried to open the fuel tank by hand.....no funnel, no pump nozzle, just using your fingers. Not saying it would stop everybody but it sure makes getting anything in a fuel tank pretty difficult.
A determined person will be prepared to remove any locking mechanism from what I have seen in the past. Sugar in a tank seems a normal revenge act....not just someone being stupid. Stealing gas seems like more of an issue...which I would bet is nearly impossible in theses fuel systems if o e was to go thru the filler neck.

i know this is a old thread but i just want to put this in here for people that might read this in the future. i had sugar put in my gas tank on my 2010 sierra (looked like about 3-4lbs of sugar too). sugar doesnt break down in gas its basicly like having sand in the tank. only way i knew someone put it in mine was because it was full all the way to the gas cap. i just took the bed off the truck and took the gas neck off and went at it with a vacuum with a piece of water hose taped to it so it would fit. i filled the shop vac up just about all the way up. never had a problem from it before or after that. only way it would mess it up is if you dont have a in tank strainer on the pump.

Illegal to pump your own.
