So I was at my optomatrist on friday, and I was wearing my TMS tee shirt (proudly) and he became intrested and started asking various qeustions about mustangs, and then he finally stumped me. He wanted to know when the 6cyl motors switched from being inline to a V style. I would assume it was sometime in the later 70's, but that is just a pure guess. Something is now telling me that is was probably more recent than I think. My doctor's curiosity has sparked mine. Someone out there has to know.

Hmmm, good question. I'm going to guess that it was 1974 when they switched body styles.

...and that's why they call him "Mister Mustang".

The first Mustang V6 was the 105hp 171ci 2-bbl in 1974.

Shameless plug alert!

I was able to find that info quickly in Brad Bowling's latest book, Mustang Field Guide, available in the TMS store for just $10.50!

And then the I-6 came back from 1979-1982. (I think the final-final year was 1982 for the I-6. Love the timeline! ) I had some friends that had 2-3 I-6s while we were in High school. I think they both had 1981s . . if I remember correctly.
