so what's the deal with stripes?

new 2013 owner here. beyond getting new wheels i never though much about upgrading something on my car for strictly appearance purposes. however stripes seem more and more plausible to me.

so are these "stickers"? durable, like 10 years on? should i have decided this before i bought the car rather than 2 months later? could i wait until summer to have them installed? my local dealer just did a dupont paint wax/sealer, will that be a problem?

i've got sterling grey and flat black striping might be nice - front bumper to rear bumper/across the roof and hood.

thanks.

10 years is pushing it but they aren't that expensive. Post pics of your car so we can give you some feedback. We are quite en vogue when it comes to stripes. Most of us are.

If you're worried about them lasting, you could have them painted on.

Stripes aren't bumper stickers, you'll get your money worth from them.

car picks above.

so 10 years is "pushing it" that sounds like there's some longevity there. if one were to need to replace them though, would that be easy enough for a trained body shop to do or would you risk seeing faded car paint vs. paint that was covered by the stripes.

is the recommendation to go to my local dealer's body shop?

looks like there's options for buying stripe decals from online sources vs. the options that ford offer - or are they all different? i suppose my dealer my source their own stripes?

Weather will play a part in how long your stripes last but the vinyl will realistically hold up for around 5-7 years before it starts to fade or crack. It also depends on the thickness and quality of the vinyl. Dealerships are over priced. Find a good body man in your area. The vinyl will break down before your paint does. I would worry about paint fading around the decals.

Also they are fairly easy to remove and won't harm your paint. Hands down: black stripes would be amazing on your car.
