OK I am thinking of getting the Tungsten Gray in 06'.

I have had a couple people tell me that Silver colored cars are the worse color to get as the paint peels real easy and early. That for some reason the paint does not stick well to the car.

Is this true for the silver color or is it just a rumor.

I have seen several different colors do this and on different makes of cars.

Is it just a hit or miss oddity of this happening?

If it is true, would having a extra clear coat applied help?

I dont know about silver itsself but if the area is properly preped and the paint isnt properly made then usually you have will some kind of problem. That goes for any kind of paint project. Another clear my help but it might not. It could even lead to more problems.

It was a serious problem in the 1980's. The silver paint tended to reflect light back into the clearcoat and caused the clear to degrade over time.

Base/Clear paint technology has drastically improved in the last 20-odd years. I say go for the tungsten, take care of the paint by regularly washing and waxing, and you will be fine.

I dont have any problem with it peeling, but i do wish I got a different color, becuase the metalic part dosent shive very well when waxed. A non-metalic shines really well. That my only com"paint".
