Shelby Road Test in R&T

I dont know if i get this my Road & Track later than you guys in the states, but they have a Shelby road test in the july issue. 0-60 in 4.7, 1/4 in 13.1. Does anyone else think those numbers suck? Im pretty sure they ran an 03 Cobra through the 1/4 in 12.9. Hell, they tested a regular GT at 5.3 to 60 and 13.9 in the quarter. I was kinda expecting low 4s and a mid 12 quarter mile.

I realize it is about 400lbs heavier than a stock GT, but its also making 200hp more. Keeping in mind that being that heavy, combined with the live axle the acceleration is its selling point rather than any handling ability. I could see this thing turning into a disaster for ford due to dealer price gouging and some very underwhelming performance numbers.

I don't really have anything to add, except that I agree with you the numbers seem kind of weak. That and I'd be curious as to what others have to say.
