Sell 07 GT and get 03 cobra?

Hey guys i've had my 07 gt for two years now, she's been a great car, and i've put A LOT of work into her. I basically have everything but a supercharger, which i've been wanting to do for a while now. I was searching ebay and autotrader and i see that i can pick up an 03 cobra with decent miles for about the same price i can sell my gt for. Now as much as i love my car, this is really looking like a smart move. To supercharger my car i'm going to have to add 6 grand, and even then, i can't boost too high. That 03 cobra is basically bulletproof and i can have 500 + horspower in a split second. But, i have put soooo much work into my 07, and there's the fact my 07 is a better car, with 10 times better interior, and i like the looks more. But then again if i have a 650 HP KB cobra, i think i could comprise. Plus there's the hassle of selling, so ahhhhh, i'm not sure what to do. I'm learning towards doing it right now. What is your guys input?

How about some more details on the Cobra; miles, condition, color, etc. Those 03-04 Termi's are some good lookin vehicles.

Both cars are great, but you're comparing apples to oranges.

Decide what you want: if it's all out power, then get the Cobra. If it's a street machine that still hauls ***, keep your GT and put a blower on it this spring anyway.

Well it's not just one, there's a whole bunch with 15-40 K miles, in the ranger of 19-25 thousand dollars.

the Termi's are very nice cars and with very little effort, capable of great horsepower...

good luck on your decision

I love the look of the current car, but theres no denying the sheer power available with the 03-04 Cobras. I always wanted to put a terminator 4.6 into my '05. That my friend is the best of both worlds. Finding a good transplant motor may be a challenge, but think about it.

idk, hopefully around 20,000, but that may be a bit optimistic. Has anyone driven both an 03-04 cobra and new GT and have some feedback? I think i'm going to see if i can test drive a cobra somewhere before i make my decision. Thanks for the responses guys!

That number is a bit optimistic - I put an 07 GT w/ 5sp,shaker, leather and 24k mileage in KBB.com and got $18,740 Private Party Value (not including haggling in a down economy) in ex. condition. Depending on what a "lot of work" is that you've done to it - it may actually scare buyers away - just as I wouldn't buy a Terminator that's been modified.

Good luck in your decision!

Supercharge your 2007 GT

Ford already made that, the 2007-2008-2009 GT500.
The extra 80 pounds of the cast iron block isn't the big deal everyone attempts to make it out to be, it cost about 12 HP to make that up, the extra cubic inches and under-tuned 100+ more horsepower are undeniable.

The 03-04 Cobra 4-valve forged internals 4.6 was the best engine Ford built since 1971 (71 429 SCJ, Boss 351) period. It is outstanding! But it has already been surpassed and the 3 year wait was much less than the 32 years it took to get the 03 Cobra .

Bone stock the 5.4 makes more power and easily handles 800+ RWHP with no internal modifications.

The 4.6 4-valve 03-04 cobra engine doesn't have anything on a forged internals 3-valve 4.6.

The 2005 Mustang chassis advancements and torsional rigidity alone are worth keeping the 2007
, forget about the kickass styling improvements.

The 1979-2004 Fox platform was 25 years old and borrowed from the not-very-cool Ford Fairmont, the 2005 Mustang improves torsional rigidity. Torsional rigidity is up 35 percent over the 2004, and the structure is also 39 percent stiffer in bending. The greater rigidity improves handling and gives the car a more solid and confident feel.

Weight distribution 2004 Cobra = 57/43
Weight distribution 2005 GT = 52/48

The Kenne Bell Mammoth kit makes
775 RWHP on the 3-valve 4.6 and
774 RWHP on the 03-04 Cobra and
801 RWHP on the GT500 kit.

I'd go for a 2003 Cobra coupe if it were Torch Red, with minimal mods, non-chrome factory wheels,
not abused, garaged, and with 790 original miles.

Perhaps like this:

Am I good or what?

I have a friend here that was torn between which to buy, and after a few months of his Cobra he wishes he had gone our route. He says that he thinks our cars are better all around platforms. To much money in it to turn back now for him, but I figured I'd give you a POV most don't.

Either way you can't go wrong, gotta love a good looking termi

Night and day. Design, looks, and comfort go to the new GT gen, raw power, drivetrain, and handling to the Cobra. IMO the '03 - '04 Cobra is the best of all the SN95 models.

+1, plus, if you're looking at selling for 18k-ish and buying the termi for up to 25k......I'd put the money into a blower for the '07 instead. But, that's just my opinion.

i would say thats all matter of opinion, nothin OEM beats cobras seats. also nothing sexier on the road IMO than a 03/04 cobra.
