412 to the crank which translates to about 360 in an auto and about 370 on the manual. I got this info from a google search. And why would you be disappointed. Is your car a dyno queen or are you actually gonna drive it. Max hp doesn't mean squat if the power doesn't get to the pavement. The 5.0 hauls serious butt right out of the box. And is a far better value than the camaro or challenger. They handle better and weigh less. I suggest you get out and drive spiritedly, with a few wot blasts, then come back and express your disappointment. A dyno hp rating is just a number, the real question is how many hp hit the ground and are they useable. Disappointed. Really

All vehicles are like that. The engine puts out the quoted horsepower but there is subsequent loss through the drivetrain to the rear wheels.

K. The new mustangs do benefit from a cai but the magic is in the tune. A cai on it's own really doesn't do too much. The computer doesnt know it's got a cai. It just knows how much fuel to spray. The new tune teaches it to spray more fuel. From what I have read in the forums, bama has a great 5.0 tune and free tunes for life is tough to sneeze at. A tuner is a must for these cars. And again from what o have read about the bama tunes customers have gotten better mileage once they are done enjoying all their new found power. Go to American muscle and inquire. They are a great company that stands behind their products, they are where you get the bama tunes from. They will tweak your tune until you are 100% satisfied. Can't really go wrong there and it keeps an american working. I think the sales reps name is Chris Rose. Email him. The best part about bama is they will write you a new tune every time you ad a mod for free. It's included in their price of the tuner. And they have the tuner/cai combo. If it were me I would go for it. 600 may se high but the service they provide is completely worth it. And I have yet to read a bad review about bama in all the forums I am in. And they will make it right if you aren't happy. And from what I have gathered the bama 93 octane tune and JLT cai was worth 40 hp and 45 lbs/tq across the entire powerband

Yup. What's it called. Parasitic loss I think. Correct me if I am wrong

FWIW, the air intake on the new Mustang is pretty good right from the factory. A detail they borrowed from the 2008 Bullitt. And there's also this to consider:

Not a lot of hp gain, but good torque numbers. And 50 state legal, and apparently warrantied by Ford.

Cheaper here:
