Exclamation A question gentlemen.

OK. First of all I want people to know that I am not being sexist.

My wife does not understand. She does not understand why I spend hours washing and waxing the car each week, she does not understand why I park as far away as I can from other cars when we go to the store, or why I shield the car from shopping karts, or why I spend time here on the forums, or why I am looking for parts on the internet, or why i wave at other mustangs driving down the street, or why I only run the good fuel, or why I have mustang wallpaper on the computer, and my phone, why I have a mustang reving as my ringtone. She does not understand why I look at of the window at night while I lie in bed.

She just doesnt get it. To make things worse she hates "Murray" with a passion, even to the point where she rufuses to ride in him and takes her own car (hurts her neck apparently).

I just wanted to know if any other of you men (sorry ladies-but please reply is your man not understand) have the same trouble that I do.

I know I am not alone. OK I am going to change my oil now.

Andy- Lots of people (spouses included) don't share the same passion or enthusiasm about our cars. It's really no use trying to change them into liking Mustangs.

Just enjoy the ride.

My wife enjoys riding in the car, but calls me a Dork when I do the listed things. She enjoys the quiet time that she has when I am busy with car related things.

You're not alone... My wife kinda understands, but I get grief every once in awhile, too.

My wife and daughter (7 years old) really hate it when I watch them like a hawk when they walk between the Mustangs in the garage.

My wife hates to ride in my car too. But I can't blame her. It rides like a rock.

She gets more frustrated with the hours I spend on here than with the car.

My Wife gives me a little grief about keepin the car clean every couple of days, gotta keep the bug guts off of it. But yesterday I waxed the GT for the first time & felt bad so I waxed her Grand Am tooooo. ****, I'm sore today. But I will say that she does like riding in it, so does my 7 year old daughter & my 20 year old, she has been home the last two weekends, I think just to ride around in it. My wife also comments about the time on the forum & researchin Musang sites. But over all, there's no problem, but I've only had the GT for almost 3 weeks, maybe a couple of months & she'll feel the same way.

Hahaha. Yep, I agree with that. The mods will be coming and when they do you will be in trouble. Keep a blanket in the car..... just in case.

You can always use the following things to quiet down the wife when you're detailing the car

at least i'm not....
-drinking beer
-chasing other women
-at a strip club
-at a casino
etc etc

I am single and my family jokes with me that its because all I do is wash my car

Ahhh yes. I get it all the time. Like why I wash my car when "It wasn't dirty"

Or why I dust it every couple days

Or why I need red brake calipers

Or why I need 17 inch wheels

And she hates my car....it rides too rough, it sits to low (duh) and there are blind spots. Hmmm. I say...if you are passing everyone, who cares about blind spots.

Overall though, she is very nice about it and really puts up with it quite well and I appreciate that she does.

But you are right....some people (including some men like my dad) don't get it.

Andy, you are not alone, although like others have said, my wife just accepts it and calls me wierd!

Also, how tall is she for the car to hurt her neck?

Fly back to Manchester next month, will drop my wife off with yours and we can hit the bars!

And why does your car run out of breath at 4500?

And she is 6' tall, she hates the whiplash from gear change.

My fiance doesn't give me much of a hard time, just makes fun of me now and then when I do some of the above mentioned things.
The thing I like doing the most to her is whenever we watch TV or movies I'll pause it (we have dvr to pause tv) if I see a mustang in the background and I'll point it out to her, she just shakes her head...hehe.

My girlfriend used to give me crap about the car (i.e. I can't believe you're spending that much money to customize a brand new car);

I say used to, because while I was out of town last week I let her drive it to work. She said she got tons of looks and gawks as people were shocked that a woman was getting out of the car (ladies, I can't help what she said).

Of course she also romped the crap out of the car (i.e. she used a 1/2 tank of gas to go less then 75 miles); At least now she kinda gets why I did it.

I had to get my husband into his own mustang- NOW he gets it.
Before he could not understand why I love the friggin car so much, or how I could spend hours washing her, or spend time here drooling over more of them.......Now he knows. Its a disease, and there is no cure.

she probably thinks you like the car more than her. Show her you love her, give it a rest with the car for a while. My old boss always told me "get your toys before you get your girl". Needless to say, I'm still collecting my toys He knew exactly what you are going through, he collected, restored, and built them from the ground up, and he did it till the day he died. Still don't know which he loved more, his wife or his cars, but I know he loved those cars an awful lot.

Which could you do with out? your car? or your wife? Sounds harsh, but you don't really know whats going through her mind, and chances are she's giving you 'hints' (awkward signs that men can't sense!), pay some attention to her and show her you love her more than the car.

just watch out you don't end up like this!

The girlfriend understands that the mustang is my hobby. Although she thinks sometimes I spend to much time detailing the mustang. But then I wash and wax her car too so she does not complain to much.
