Possible Tune for Mileage Increase?

I noticed that SCT now has a tuner they call the Economizer – specifically developed to provide better fuel mileage. I haven’t heard of anyone running with one of these yet, but with the prices of gas climbing almost daily, it might be worth a shot. Of course, with 10% better mileage (claimed), and the cost of $399 what’s the break even point?

Well my car is 3yrs and 2 months old and I have 23K miles on my car. That is an average of 7,187.5 miles per year. If you assume I can get 20 mpg on average. So at 20 MPG I use 359.375 gallons of gas a year X $4.00/gal = $1,437.50/year. So if this tune truely gave me 10% better mileage that would be 22 MPG X $4.00/gal = 326.70 gals/year. So this tune would save me 32.675 gals of gas per year. So this tune would save me $130.70 per year. It would take me 3.06 years to break even on my investment. NOT IN MY LIFETIME!!!

Thanks for doing the math Micheal Waltrip.....But for people who drive more...say 15 to 20k miles a year...it may be worth it.
