Possible Mustang Purchase

Hello,

Not sure if this post went thru or not, so I'll repost again...
Let me start out saying that I've never owned a mustang, however always loved the 5.0 hatchback models and recently started looking on Craigslist. I found an 89 5.0 LX for $3k. Looks to be in good shape. Seems like that's the going price as well. Maybe I can get it for a little less who knows...

Attached are some pics. When I asked about the milage he stated that there isn't a way to tell since the mustang odometers don't go past 99,999 and believes there's a lot of miles. Also says it runs good and no issues.

From what I've seen on eBay, the prices fluctuate a lot, so maybe you guys can help me.

This would be a second car for me and probably down the line, I'd look to sell, hoping to somewhat get my money back.

Thoughts on the price, value, etc assuming it's in good shape when I see it?

How's the engine run? On the plus side it looks like whoever owned took care of it. If it runs solid, clutch or transmission seem solid and your happy with it three thousand isn't a horrible price. Resale depending on how long you hold onto it, you might need to do some upgrading or replacing of the things that wear out on a 25 year old car, shocks/struts, springs, brakes, etc. You probably don't want to Shi much with the engine if it runs good except change the oil routinely.

Says it's his daily driver and runs good. I haven't checked it out myself yet. Says it has a new alternator, water pump, king cobra clutch, starter and battery.

Might be worth taking it to a mechanic you trust for a look-see. I would expect them to tell you that it needs a variety of work. Cars with that age and mileage do. So that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

That information would give you an idea what you would have to budget for, over what period of time.

Check for rust I've looked at a few that crusty lol. Just inspect it good the ole 5.0 aint that hard to work on. Like posted before the main stuff you'll probably have to fix is shocks, bushings brakes and hoses but for the price it isn't bad!
