Yeah... autos will heat up the transmission and you are wearing the rear brakes on both autos and manuals.
All I hurt doing that was the tires. And they really don't look much different now than they did before doing it. It looks like a lot of rubber on the ground, but it really isn't.

It's really no different than powerbraking. Most of your brake power comes from the front end, so you aren't hurting the rears that much, once you're spinning.

Yep... it's just being able to get on the brake quick enough. You'll see them go forward a little bit while they are getting their foot on the brake. Where I didn't move forward even an inch.

Line locks are great for the track. I had one on my Camaro when I was racing. Just pop it in second, hold the button, give it a good rev and dump the clutch in the wetbox....good to go!

From what I remember, not alot of the Troopers cared for them too much, but they would outrun and handle most of the cars in the area at the time. 225 hp was a hell of alot more than the little Datsun pickup I was driving at the time had. Nothing wrong with 400!!!

You might be right there. The LX's were alot quicker than the GT, due to not having all the extra ground effects. The interceptors were for the most part stock 5.0 motors just a different cam right? I think a oil cooler too.

You know, the more I look and read about that new MGW shifter the more I think about getting in on the group buy. According to George it's gonna be $272 for just the basic kit, and $285 with the stops. He's got a hell of a discount happening with the group buy compaired to what the retail price is gonna be.

According to George it's gonna be $272 for just the basic kit, and $285 with the stops. He's got a hell of a discount happening with the group buy compaired to what the retail price is gonna be.
Personally, I would have preferred it to be about $50 less (making it's retail the same as the others on the market), but given my past experience with his SN95 shifter, I'm sure that the extra money is going to be well worth it.

Well, technically it's the same 15% as he mentioned from the get-go...it's just that the retail price is high, so the $$ off is more.

Same cam, actually. But yes... an oil cooler, special hoses, stuff like that. I don't think anything was even messed with in the computer. A lot of people think the speed-limiter was adjusted higher, but I don't think so.

I know the Highway Patrol chose the Mustang over the Camaro because of the additional ground clearance when jumping curbs and such.

You can do the 'powerbraking' with the manual. I'm getting there with mine. The problem, for me at least, is I'm awful busy trying to keep the car somewhat straight, watch the rev-limiter and shift if I have to and then modulate the brakes with my foot so I'm using as little rear braking power as possible. Trust me once you get stop the car from moving forward in 1st, it wants to be sideways real quick.
Tom, loving the burnout remnants pic. I remember when I used to burnout with my 429 Torino I'd have to brush the rubber off the lower qtr panel when I got home before my dad saw it.... hahahaha... those where the days. I love your car, it's 9-ways of awesome !!
