I dropped the hammer!

Maybe because I haven't driven the car for most of the year, or maybe because the times I have driven it lately was just putzing around.. But, this thing feels scary fast now!

Off the roll in 1st at 20 mph... tires broke loose and hit the rev limiter in like a second.
Rolling in 2nd at 3500 rpm's... started to pitch the rear end.

Conclusion: Little to no traction on the stock 235's.

(Leo.. no dissapointments here!)

Alpine to iPhone/iPod woes...

I upgraded my iPhone to the new version 2.2 and now my Alpine doesn't recognize it.

I know a few of you have iPod interfaces in your cars, so heed this warning.

This link shows how to revert back to 2.1, but it's not a simple process and will probably loose all your stuff including the contacts (unless I figure out how to back them up).

Not sure if I want to see more cars after being around them all day Saturday.

Anyone heard from Brian? Wonder if he's matched Tom's numbers.

Yep....... Livernois 298ci stroker short block, $4800....... reuse my heads & cams, bolt on the Saleen, and go..... 550 rwhp easily with a bullet proof block.

Uh, duh........that's an understatement LOL! I've been driving mine with the stock 235s on as winter tires, you should see the car with 450 lb/ft @ 2500rpm and 15 degree weather!

No doubt bullet proof! Looks like you've been doing a little research there Tom.

I've heard that strokers don't like to be rev'd up too high. Any truth to this as far as you know?

And unless you plan on doing all the labor work yourself, better be prepared to sell off your left nut to fund the install.

As far as RPMs go, I've heard the same but I think it's a little overblown..... I mean, as long as you can rev to 6500rpm or so why would you need to go higher? That's my logic at least.....

Regarding costs, yes you're right but I believe that I could have the short block delivered right to Brenspeed and they can pull my engine in less than a day; take a day to swap my heads, etc. to the SB, and then a day to install the assembled SB back into the car. I think we could have the car in and out within a week.....

That said, I'm not planning on doing this even in 2009; actually I think I'm gonna pulley up come springtime and run 450 to the tires until I know for sure if I want to keep this car, or sell it and part out all of the stuff that I bought for it.

Well if I get this new job I'm getting a super shaker

Look at these install pics on another PJ

I don't know if I like how high the shaker sits, but I like it! Hopefully by this time next year this will be in my PJ!

Have a great weekend guys!!

No, no 2010 for me.... I'll probably end up keeping the '06 until it's paid off in another year or so. I want to pick up a Lexus GS350 to cruise in. Even an IS series would be OK, like a AWD 250 with the sport package, etc.

Thanks George.

It does sit a wee bit high, but being Saleen factory, it looks like it belongs.

Would you like a set of JBA shorties with that sir?

Now what to put in that corner of the engine bay now? Ice box for the intercooler?

Isees... my friend has a black IS, looks very cool especially with those paddle shifters.

George you could always get the the JDM motor mounts that drop the engine a bit... Either way the Saleen shaker is f'n awesome.
