By the way... will you be going to MOSI? I'm taking the '89 and the '06.

I'm letting a friend... a good friend... drive the '06. But he has to help me clean both cars when we get there!
Yeah I do plan on going to MOSI. I think that's the first weekend I'll be coming home from Gainesville. Luckily it falls on a non-home game for the Gators, so I hope I can make it out to MOSI.

Well I have officially kicked the Audio System Upgrade into full swing. This will have to be done in steps to avoid having to redo things, as I have had so little time to work on the car
I copied MustangDaren's idea for an amp wall (dimensions too ) and have that done and ready to install.
2' x 4' 1/2" MDF Stock Sheet
Attachment 8076
MDF cutout to Form
Attachment 8077
Amp Wall Carpeted
Attachment 8080
I aligned the amps using the trusty green 3M masking tape
Attachment 8078
And then mocked them up.
Attachment 8079
While I had them mocked up, I drilled all the holes for the amp screws, power, ground, remote and speaker wires as well as the RCAs.

Yesterday I got the Speaker wire and RCAs ran down the Driver's Side to the trunk area. Was a tight fit running 2 RCAs (1 x 2 Channel and 1 x 4 Channel) and 2 x 12ga Twisted Pair Speaker Wire under the door sill, but I made it work
The rear seats are SO easy to remove it is somewhat scary. One little plastic push lock and each seat and bam the whole bottom rear seat area pops out.

I removed all the stuff from my sig and will just post it here, for those of you that don't know what I am installing in the car. (Or if you even care )
Head Unit = Alpine IVA-W200
Front Speakers = Infinity 50.7CS
Rear Speakers = Infinity 682.7CF
Subwoofer = Infinity Perfect 12D VQ
Sub Box = Scosche 05 Mustang Specific Box
Front/Rear Speaker Amp = Alpine MRP-F450
Subwoofer Amp = Alpine MRP-M650
Satellite Radio = TERK XM Radio Receiver & Alpine Adapter

Reminds me of my old audio days... looks good so far!

Well, here's the latest on ERNESTO. Mike and I are approximately where the bullseye is:

I'll shoot some video outside in the storm. It shouldn't be nearly as bad as in 2004, but it will give you some idea of what it's like to be in a hurricane (or hopefully just a tropical storm) if you haven't been before.

Lookin good, Daryl!

I didn't know you got the Alpine amps already.

Did you get the Alpine IVA-W200 too? It looks like a pretty nice deck.

Couple things..
Did you figure out how to bypass that DVD/park feature?
How about some speed sensor wire hookup for the nav?
Are you keeping the door subs or replacing them too?

I can't wait to swap out my head unit later on.

Great idea!

Post it up as soon as you get some good coverage on tape.

-----------------------------------------

The '06 is on hold (very temporarily) while I figure out this timing issue on the '89: (Kinda interesting if you read through it because it shows all the CRAP we don't have to deal with on our new cars!)

http://www.fordmuscle.com/forums/all...rve_53583.html

I need to get that dialed in better so I can tune the carburetor. I'm getting a lot of help from My427stang. Wish I knew half of what he did on that topic!

Yes sir, everything is here except the XM Radio Receiver due later this week.

I will, there are several comments on how-to in the Modifications-Interior Audio Section.

How about some speed sensor wire hookup for the nav?
No nav yet, will add maybe later, just would not use it much.

Are you keeping the door subs or replacing them too?
I will eventually replace them, but I thought about replacing them with like 6.5" mids instead of woofers. The 12" Sub should be plenty bass.
My question on the doors subs is how to connect them to the aftermarket system. My harness has a piece for it but I guess I won't know for sure till I get behind the system.

Keep your head down, weatherman said he will hit land later this evening. Maybe it will stay as a Tropical Storm

I've looked into this myself and I think this is what we need in order to keep the door subs.

I have that very kit, just still not getting it.
Attachment 8111
It has 1 set of RCAs and 2 x Remote Turn-On Leads.
where do you put the RCAs if you already have all the pre-amps filled? Can you use a y-adapter or does that change the Ohm Load to the amp ?

The only thing that changes the ohm load to the amp is how you wire up the speakers, like two 4Ω subs wired in parallel to a mono output will provide a 2Ω load to the amp. The RCA's are just signal (no power) so they won't change the amp load at all.

Holy crap... where did that come from?

PM Hawgman with this question and I'm pretty sure he can tell you where it all hooks up to.

I knew part of that, that is how I will be wiring my sub.
2 x 4ohm vc to produce a 2ohm load to amp 600 watts.

What are the amps stable to? 2Ω? 1Ω? Probably 2Ω... very expensive ones are stable down to 1Ω or even .5Ω.

Mine are stable to at least 2Ω so that is all that matters
And since when did I get a Hippo Camp in my brain ?
