Based on the pics below do you guys think the stainless steel finish on the hood strut brackets stand out in a bad way?

BTW- Bill what are those caps you have on your bolts called and what size are they?

Let me shoot straight from the hip..

Get them in black.

Chrome caps are from Spectre and should be available from Autozone in the engine dress-up section. I think they're 10mm, but you better double check.

Here's a link to Summit to show what they look like.

Black.

But being as they are just brackets, I wouldn't worry about changing them. Just sand them down a little, prime them, and paint them with a nice gloss or semi-gloss black paint.

Auto Zone has really nice engine paint that will look great! It's like $4 a can, but $8 isn't much to make them look how you want.

In my case, I had the Stainless Steel Redline Tuning hood struts on my '06... and the black ones on my '89. I decided to swap them because they looked better the other way around.

Leo, this isn't a bad idea. Do the prep right and it'll come out looking great and will last.

My engine in the '89 is painted with that paint. The block, the timing chain cover, brackets, the bay itself... anything that didn't come in bare aluminum.

I just got added to the CDC Customer Vehicle section!

Took them a while, I submitted my pics to them like a month ago. Maybe they were taken aback and were in shock!

I'm going to order the Web Electric One-Touch rear windows and the Auto button (see my sig). I'm tired of not ordering anything!

Susan, I'm sure you would love these, too!

Before I do, what are the opinions on this:

Attachment 12017

I like how it doesn't flash again and again if you take your foot off the brake to inch forward in traffic. You have to have your foot off the brake for 15 seconds before it flashes again.

I think it's kinda neat... and might keep somebody from plowing into our rear-ends.

I was looking at that for a while before ordering my sequentials from them.

For me, having the sequentials, 3rd brake overlay message, and having it pulse, would drive whomever's following me absoultely crazy!

Well I`m back.....Children cry , women run , men get Ill.

Been workin the Big "OT" and finally got off my duff and ordered something myself. Mustang Jack had that Steeda CAI for darned near half price so I picked that up the other day , could not find a Steeda cleaning kit in this stoopid town for jack chit. The freakin Capitol of Texas and few if any Speed shops like there used to be 30 years ago. Today I had to order the kit online , the price was right , but $10 bucks shippin bites.
Then I bit , Ordered the XCT2 from brenspeed with the 3 tunes.
Yay for me!!!

You beat me to it, Bill!

The Steeda cleaning kit comes with blue oil. (All the cotton filters are grey, it just depends on what color oil you use.)

Yes, the K&N kit will turn it red... Summit sells cleaning kits with different oil colors... you could get purple, yellow, green...

Now I decided not to get anything. It's stupid to order parts with no income. I can wait a month for those auto buttons.

Oh you're no fun!

I shouldn't be ordering anything either, and I have a job!

Screw it... I just ordered them. I have zero control. It's too easy... they take Pay Pal. The one-touch rear windows with auto button and the brake light pulser. If I don't like the pulser, I'll just sell it on eBay.

Oooooo, they are in OH... on my side of the country! I should get them relatively quickly.

Kevin will have to make me one, too... I asked first, Leo!

Thanks for the opinions I agree the brackets look better in black. I was just hoping you guys would say it looks good and save me the time of having to paint them.

Tom- Good job of giving in and getting what you want.

Susan- You know you want the auto button too. I would if I had a vert.

WTF? How come when ever I'm off for a long period of time I only have like 3-4 posts to read. Don't answer that. I'd like to come back and get to read like 3 pgs.

How long do brake rotors last under normal driving conditions? Just asking as I was thinking of getting the rotorpros rotors once the stock one's gave out although I'm sure you guys are going to say they'll last 100,000 miles. Eitherway I'm not getting the rotors untill I get my wheels/tires and my springs. Which may not be untill christmas if even then.
