Nothing but trouble for GM with their GTO. It's too bad. But it serves them right for producing such an orphan design rather than something retro. They could have made it look like any number of their more appealing muscle cars. But NOOOOOOOOOO! It had to look like a Toyota.

Actually all they did was take a Holden model from Australia and pretty much rebadge it. Holden actually makes some decent rides down there - look at the new G8 that will be coming out from Pontiac - that thing looks like it is being done right, as well as not being badged as something that it isn't.
(ie - a famous muscle car nameplate)

Heck Ford needs to get off its a** and take advantage of FPV (Ford Performance Vehicles) from Ford Australia and follow what GM is doing, pulling from their Australian cousins..... FPV was specifically created to compete against Holden (in '02) and ended up surpassing them in product reviews the past few years..... those Boss 290 motors are sweet.......

Plus their cars are made for more than just straight line performance (ie - better suspension, Brembo brakes, 6 speed manuals, etc....)

 

GM should find all the people who bought GTOs, it's probably about a dozen or so, give them a free Cavalier SS
