And exhaust from the factory catalytic convertors back. Basically just new mufflers and some piping.

"Cats" are Catalytic converters, the factory ones are very restrictive. A cat-back exhaust usually has a new X/H pipe and free flowing cats. Axle-backs are new mufflers, or muffler deletes. Axle-backs add better sound, Cat-backs add to sound and performance. Need a tune to take full advantage of it. Cats are required in the U.S.....but not all of us follow that rule. Some states use a sniffer to make sure you are legal, some just look for cats, some don't care so much.
Grats on the car, and welcome to TMS.

Axle backs are on the s197. The sn and new edges have cat backs. Our mufflers come before the axle

Ours also don't need tunes, for really anything, unless you want one but just tuning for an exhaust won't do anything for you.

I had a SN95 and 2 New Edges, always forget that the mufflers are back there, still consider it axle back lol.

You don't NEED a tune for those, but a tune alone gives 20 RWHP. A tuner and lifetime tunes from AM is cheaper than the parts, so why buy any performance parts if you can't make the most out of them
