New 6 or used 8?

I am looking at buying a Mustang and torn on what to do. I want a convertible that is a daily driver. My funds only allow for a base V6. I am not sure if I should just get a used GT instead. I am also not sure what I want more the cool looking LEDS lights or the rumble of a V8. If I get a GT it will have to be a 2010-2012 model. A low mileage GT Convertible is going for what I could pay for a brand new V6 base.

I'd look for a '11/'12 GT instead of a '10. The 2010 GTs don't have the 5.0.

Yeah it will have to be the 5.0 if I get the GT. The new 6 is not a bad motor with 300hp and I get the good gas mileage. The trick is I need to find one with cloth seats, my wife hates leather.

You could buy the leather interior gt or v6 and buy take off cloth seats for 100. Several members here are selling them. I am just trying to open up your options. More options are available on the premium set up gt.

I had the same decision to make. I was between the V6, 2010 gt, and 2011gt. I went to carmax to help me decide. I don't think there is a replacement for a test drive.

I am finding some insane deals on the 2010 GT models. I guess everyone wanted the 5.0. I think if I can get a great deal on 2010 the 4.6 still has the nice rumble and I am not paying for the 5.0 price. Hmm that is a tough call!

I like the 2010 myself. It was my first choice. When I bought my car a year ago the best negotiated price I could get on a 2010 was 24000. This is a low mileage certified car. I picked up a 2012 gt premium for 26000. 2000 wasn't the savings I was looking for.

If I could have gotten a 2010 for closer to 20000, I'd be driving that and not my 5.0. I recommend trying to look for both and negotiate the best price on both. Look at the difference in price and see if its worth it for you.

I went through a similar issue. I have a 2012 Cali and did not want to put a ton of miles on it. I looked at used cars for a daily driver. It came down to a 2005 V8 convert or a used 2013 V6 convert. I got the 2013. It has more HP than most stock V8's prior to 2010. it gets better gas mileage and still has a warranty. They have a lot of spunk and I am very happy to have gotten it.
Do not let the V6 syndrome stop you from getting a good deal.

If the 11 and up GT didn't exist, I'd say go for the V8. Sad fact is that more people notice the 10's GT logo as not the coveted 5.0 liter than they do a 6 versus 8. The short childish bastids see a V6 and accept it for what it is. The puds move on to pick on the next car in the pecking order. (10-GT) Lol

Also, who cares what they think?! Just a personal observation.

You'll have fun with the V6 as you save some cash. Pick wisely and you won't lose your @ss when you trade it in for the 15.

I think I am going to try for the used GT Vert. However, I will try to find a good deal on a low miles 10-12. I really want to to get the shaker scoop later on and I miss my 66 Mustang's rumble.

Thanks for letting me talk it out here. When I was at the dealer anything they had on the lot I would have taken (Base v6), I'm glad I took some time to think it out.

Some SWEET deals on 03-04 Terminator converts. All the power you can want, looks FANTASTIC, and put some $$$$ in your pocket for toys to put in it. Can go power builds to put out amazing HP or show room for head turning. Personally I am a Huge fan of the 4.6 4v 32 valve.
