Exclamation Need Advise on Convertible Top

Hey guys, I recently purchased an '07 GT convertible. Top is down and won't go up. I recently replaced the hydraulic cylinders on either side. Fluid is topped off. Relays working, fuses are good. The switch on the dash still brings the windows down when I push the button, but there isn't a peep from the motor. Plus, I just replaced the motor, and I'm getting the same issue.

Any ideas on next steps?

Could be the motor is one way, could be wiring, could be a thermal cut off, could be a bad switch or sensor, could be low voltage, could be dang near anything, really. Lot has to go right before the top will even move, given the descriptions. Windows, speed and/or shift handle location... all kinds of things.

That's the diagnostics for the convertible top. You'll wanna go through those, it'll pinpoint your issue. Of course, there's a computer involved for some of those, but maybe the tests will not need that.

One note: The pages are in "sorta numerical" order, so it goes thus: 1,2,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20,3... and so on, so you'll have to do a bit of jumping around to reorder them. I don't own the site, or I'd fix it. I tend to right click and save the pages, renamed as needed, then turn them, size them, etc and have my own lil' section.

Alternately, I'd recommend the entire shop manual for the '07. Wiring diagrams and all. You can get a day or month subscription at some places like Alldata or other similar to 'rent' the things, or buy the entire DVD and have it at your disposal.. lots of options. But definitely a shop manual is something you're gonna want to get your hands on, if the above linkage isn't to your liking.

Specifically, the problem is top won't go up or down. In this case, up, but it's the same overall testing. Pinpoint test A. Starts here:

So anyway, just follow that first page through the process. Forward until you hit page 10 (which will be 26 in the overall list of these pages) then jump back to page 11 (which will be page 3 in the list), and then it should finish up Pinpoint A. By then, you should have the top diagnosed and ready to fix the problem. Hopefully. Assuming you have all the things needed, mainly the diagnostic tool which will let you read the various switches and sensors (via the PIDs) as needed to see what's working or not, causing the top to be unhappy.

You might look into FORScan and get a dongle for a laptop, maybe, but I can't see if it'd be applicable, meaning the PIDs and stuff will be compatible and readable with it. I'd say it probably will, but... yeah. I have no actual idea. Otherwise a proper scan tool/software with the above dongle is going to be a requirement, and for that you may need to get it to a dealer and pay the man/woman, because some of those scan tools are *not* cheap at all...

Otherwise, you're just doing a BUNCH of multimeter stuff on the wiring and hoping to find it that way. The scan tool will help you find it much faster, but nothing wrong with tracing wires and testing them!
