And now for episode 2, featuring a dramatic chase scene between the Shelby and a Benz.

Unfortunately, the Shelby GT500 saw no action on the last episode. But then again, did Frank Bullitt's Mustang show up in the end of Bullitt?

However, I did save the best for last. To capture the realism displayed on the anime, the production team for Gunsmith Cats traveled to Chicago, IL, to study the city and suburban landscapes, as well as test the firearms that were to be illustrated in the series. In addition, they went to Hollywood, CA, to rent an actual 1967 Shelby GT500. Not only did they study the dimensions of the car, they recorded every sound generated by it, from its throaty Cobra 428 to its smoky burnouts.

And now, prepare to gawk...

Is it just me, or does the 2nd pic in the 22nd post (which is near the top of this page) look like a scene from the chase in Bullitt... Not exactly, it just seems similar.

For me, it was the third picture in the 21st post that made me think of Bullitt

I never really thought of that, as the author of the manga never mentioned any influence from Bullitt. He did mention on the DVD extras that GSC was heavily influenced by The Blues Brothers, Vanishing Point and the original Gone in 60 Seconds.

Heh, all the pics on this page remind me of Bullitt somewhat. I feel like the Benz should be a Charger.

Just don't show the knife in the hood - D'oh! And since DCX is more German than American, the Benz (coincidentally) seems pretty appropriate.

GSC is AMAZING. it's the what peaked my interest in Mustangs.
I have seen the movie and own every book. That guy did it right. Nothing like reading through an action packed comic that features Cars and Guns!

Great Pics!

GSC is currently out of print, and ADV Films has no plans on re-releasing it. Your best bet is on eBay. That's where I got my copy.
