Mustang rear end

Is there an easy way to tell if my mustang has a 9' rear end or a 8'? It's a 71 mustang.

Image search and compare. The 9" doesn't have a rear cover. The gearing is front loaded.

I don't think an 8" does either.

if you can remove all the bolts from the punkin with a socket and ratchet it is an 8 " .. a 9 " will reqiure a boxed end wrench on the bottum bolts ..
