Low beam HIDs mistaken for high beams

I'm getting tired of having oncoming drivers flick their high beams at me when I only have my low beams on. Yes they're HID on a '14 pony but c'mon ppl..it's only brighter not blinding!

Have you had someone drive it and you meet them on the road to see if maybe they are too bright and might need some adjustment? A lot of cars on the road today have HID lights and if you getting flashed was an isolated thing I wouldn't think much about it, but if its happening regularly there's a good chance there's something to it.

Well..the wife drives a new SHO and gets the same reaction w her HIDs so I doubt that it's a adjustment issue but I'll check it out anyway.

I was having the same problem this past fall. It seems to be a common occurrence with the HID's, and it is frustrating. I have not done anything about it, and at this point I dont plan on having them adjusted.

They Flash me, I flash them back. They find out how bright the high beams are then.

I had a '10 Infiniti fx35 w/ HID xenon before I bought my Expedition.. I'd get the same thing, some people would even pull over if they were in front of me and just let me pass.

That car has adjustable lights though, that you can adjust from the driver's seat. I loved that feature (rented one for 3 days just for the hell of it).

The bottom line is that HIDs are bright!
I find myself checking myself when I want to flash my lights at an oncoming car because, it is what it is in some cases...

Back in the day, I had a Mopar with a 4 headlight setup, and I installed a pair of Cessna landing lights in the 'high beam' location.... Talk about bright! And then, when I'd hit the high beam switch, the alternator gauge would drop a notch!!

Are you on the peninsula or across the bay?

I had the same problem with my 14 GT. Thought it was because of the Roush suspension changes that were made to the car. Back was lowered slightly more than the front. Dealer checked it out and lights were within spec. Service team went ahead and lowered slightly. Not really enough that I notice it while driving. Haven't had near the flashes since.

Smart, they're telling you its too bright affecting their vision so you really blind them.. have fun with that head on collision

I wouldn't buy a car with those lights. Just the hassle of being constantly flashed, plus the idea that I'm impairing other drivers' vision, simply isn't worth it. And you have to pay extra for it too.

Last time I had the pleasure of driving mine. I used the high beams. They did not look at all brighter just aimed higher.

They are the best. As I understand it, they are not brighter (within NHTSA guidelines) but are a whiter light using a different wavelength. As prevalent as they are now the only people flashing are morons. They should look to the right edge of the road/line. They'll learn. Cause HID's aren't going away.

I'm on a dark rural highway and they light up the road for deer. Esp in rain. I rarely get flashed. When I do, I lay on the brights. They'll learn.

I'm a little confused. Do you not own a Mustang...?
